    Eye Protection

    Safety Glasses shall have side shieldsfor better protection

    (Primary Protection)

    Goggles with direct ventilation ports areused to block out flying particles.

    Chemical goggles must be used to protect from splashes,vapors and fine dust.

    Face shields and welding helmets are secondary protection. Wearthem with safety glasses or goggles.

    Clean eye protection regularly.

    Head ProtectionHard Hats

    Dont wear it backwards!

    There should be a 1-inch gap between thecrown straps of the suspension and shell.This absorbs impacts.

    Inspect the suspension system for signs of

    wear. Bump hats are NOT a replacement for hard

    hats!

    Wear your chin strap, if provided with thehard hat, so that if you do fall, the hard hatwill stay on your head.

    Typically leather at UOP orrubber/neoprene for corrosivechemicals.

    Make sure no openings exist betweenshirt sleeve and gloves when workingwith chemicals.

    Inspect for holes or worn-out areas. Dont wear gloves while working around

    rotating equipment.
