WEDNESDAY WORD
Volume 52, Issue 30 ATONEMENT LUTHERAN SCHOOL April 15, 2020 www.alcs.org
2019-20 Theme
Principal’s Notes:
Dear All, This Last Monday, April 13, Governor Edwards ordered Louisiana Public Schools to remained closed through the end of the 2019-20 term. Normally it is ALS policy is to follow the lead of the Jefferson Parish Public School System. However, in a meeting of the Board of Christian Education on Monday, April 13, we have decided to monitor the situation for any possible resumption of direct in-school instruction prior to the end of the 2019-20 term. This depends of course on whether the governor terminates the shelter in place order currently in effect. Secondly, we would want to make certain that it is safe to resume normal operations with respect to COVID 19 health concerns. If these conditions can’t be satisfied, then ALS would continue with the current distance
learning online program per current status. We will keep you informed of out status. In our Lord's service, Mr. Molin Principal [email protected]
Coronavirus Response
• Our plan currently is to proceed with Grade 8 Graduation on May 16 at
2:00 pm. However, if that needs to be adjusted we will keep you posted.
• PS students need to continue with Class Tag and Kindergarten-Grade 8
with google classroom. K-Gr. 8 will have assignments that are being
corrected and graded as school remains in session though in a distance
learning format.
• Faculty has two meetings per week on Tuesdays/Thursdays via Zoom.
• Tuition/fee/tithes/offerings can be paid online. However, if that doesn’t
seem to be a viable option for you, please contact [email protected],
[email protected] or [email protected] and we will work with you on
receiving checks or cash.
• MUSCIAL “SOUND OF MUSIC” RESCHEDULE
Hello Atonement Family, We are adapting to the ever-changing distancing guidelines, and our school musical will now be a summer production! We look forward to presenting The Sound of Music on July 17-19. All previously purchased ticket reservations will be honored for these new performance dates. Ticket sales are paused for the time being and will be reopened as we get closer to the dates. If you need to cancel or change your reservation, please contact Evan Arceneaux ([email protected]). More details to come! Thank you! Evan Arceneaux
Tuition/fees are be collected because school remains in session via distance
learning, online. Grades are being recorded and will be reported on the
Sycamore system. Our faculty is doing everything in its power with this
situation to prepare students to move to the next grade level for 2020-21.

• Achievement Test Week for Kindergarten – Grade 8 TBD; uncertain whether ALS will have achievement testing this term.
Our librarian, Mrs. Terry Ritchie, has completed five radiation treatments and for malignant tumors. As of last Wednesday, April 1 she awaits word on further treatments but with the COVID 19 situation this has been delayed. Thankfully she has stated that her cancer is non-aggressive.
