Thursday No Familiarization and practice on the course as there is racing all day… Friday Same as Thursday until race time. But, men can come and swim during the women’s warm up between 16:00 and 16:45. Coaches run course measurements between 16:00 – 16:45.

Check-in procedures

Athletes Lounge

– Uniform & race gear check (name, country, logos, ITU logo, zippers) –

photos taken of each uniform

Wearing other uniform during the race = DSQ!

– Body marking check (both arms, both legs)

– Timing chip distribution (1 for the ankle)

– Swim cap distribution

– Leave your bag in the Athletes’ Lounge, use the bag sticker as the

athletes gears will be relocated to recovery area during the race

Transition Area

- Helmet check - Don’t leave your helmet fastened in the transition

The athlete who misses to comply with this rule will receive a time

penalty of 15 seconds in TA1

– Running Shoes outside the box, helmet on the bike

– The bike must be racked in the first transition by the rear wheel and in the

second transition in any direction

– Spare wheels to be deposited by the coaches to Wheel Stop area

Pre-Start Procedure

Athlete Introduction

• 10 minutes before start - line-up in Swim start Area

• Last minute gears will be transefered to Recovery area

• As introduced Jog to the swim start area

• Select your position, remain there and stay behind the

line!

• The start can be given any time after the TD

announces ”On your mark”

• Air horn blast

• The race starts

Athletes not moving forward at the start will

receive a time penalty of 15 seconds in TA1.

False Start Procedure

• Everyone goes back to her/his spot

Valid Start but with Early Starters:

• If someone starts before the horn and everyone else starts

with the horn, the false starter will receive a time penalty of 15

seconds in TA1.

(During the time penalty, athlete cannot touch any of their

equipment!)

• 9 laps of 4.35 (total distance of 39.15 km)

• Flat and technical 180 degres turns

• 2 Wheel Stations

– 1 Team wheel station. Coaches need to bring the wheels (Wheel

Stop 1) around the fountain.

– 1 Neutral wheel station (Wheel Stop 2) on Columbus drive accross

the venue on the west side.

• Lap Counter: at the end of TA, left hand side

• Littering zone same as aid stations (see location on the map)

• Lapped athletes are out of the race

Neutral wheel station All wheels will be returned to Sponsor after the event. ITU collects all wheels post-race and returns them to the wheel stop area and/or Elite Athlete Lounge. • The penalty box is for infringements in: TA1, bike, TA2 and

littering

e..x.: Mount before mount line, dismount after dismount line,

discharge or store your equipment outside your designated

area, rack the bike outside your own space etc

(Transition will be videotaped for infringements)

• Location: at the entrance of the fountain area on the right

• Information: White board to show race numbers

(Athletes need to read the board)

• Procedure: 15 seconds time penalty served on any lap of

the run

• If you don’t stop it will result in DSQ

Post race procedure

• Photo-finish

• No congestion in finish area: go to mixed zone/recovery area

• Dress “up” – with race uniform (or country clothes) coaches assistance needed:

Ambush marketing rules apply

• Race caps/visors are allowed at the podium with maximum 1 sponsor logo with

maximum height 4cm & total area 20cm²

• Pick up your bike after your race

Ambush Marketing

• Ambush marketing is defined as:

“Deliberately using the opportunity of live television and

media photographers to acquire additional exposure for your

sponsor product, apparel or brand.”

The consequence for this behavior is:

The athlete will immediately forfeit their prize money for that

event, if any

Post-race procedure

Anti-Doping Control

– Photo ID is needed for every athlete to go for testing

Team Medical Access

– Only team medical will be allowed to enter the medical

tent after ITU Medical Delegate’s permission.

– Every NF can have 1 team medical accreditation, but for

team doctors only!

– Team doctors should register with the ITU Medical

Delegate (Dr. Humberto Aguilar)

Coaches Areas

Accreditation

• Accreditations will be distributed to those that have been

entered through the online system from their NF

Coaches will have access to

• Swim pre-start area

• Next to Wheel Station 1 and near penalty box. Cross over to

the middle are near motorcycle turn around.

• Recovery area

Coaches’ RUN ACCESS

• One coach per NF is allowed to have access on the

elite run course for 45minutes from 16:00 to 16:45 on

Friday

• Vests are provided to these coaches by Chief

Transition

• All the coaches will meet at Transition and start at the

same time from the same start point – near dismount

line

• Coaches who require this access, must register with

the registration Tos following the athletes’ briefing

IMPORTANT NOTES

• If you do bike training sessions, please wear

your helmet and beware of the cars on the road

• Prize Money will be ITU Bank transferred (ITU form)

• Event is live on TV

• Anyone wishing to use a Go Pro must register this interest

with the Race Referee immediately after the briefing, and

agree to abide by the conditions applied . This includes the

familiarisation and Race
