Average cost of a wedding increases 34%

According to a national wedding statistics and market research organization, the average cost of a wedding unexpectedly increased by 34% from $16,546 in the second quarter of 2009 to $22,121 in the third quarter of 2009. These results were based on survey samples of both couples and wedding vendors across the United States.

You may recall that the average cost of a wedding declined 14% from the first to second quarter of 2009. The year started out with an average wedding cost of $19,212 and then fell to $16,546 amidst a poor economy and a lower than expected demand for professional services.
