• ENQUIRE by Cern is launched.

• This was the first creation of the World Wide

Web and was launched by Tim Berners-Lee a

British Scientist.

• First instant messenger launched by AOL.

• Tim Berners-Lee creates the first Web browser

named WorldWideWeb.

• First ever website and server made live at CERN

by Berners-Lee.

• Alan Emtage develops first search tool at McGill

University.

• 42% of adult Americans have used a computer.

• First web cam/live

stream is created so

that researchers can

check if their coffee

has brewed without

going to the kitchen.

• WorldWideWeb is released by Cern as a public

domain.

• Mosaic 1.0 is created and published creating the

internet as it is known today as it was the first

• First known web purchase is made of a perreroni

pizza with mushrooms and extra cheese from

Pizza hut.

• Yahoo! is created by Jerry Yang and David Filo.

• Worlds first “click here” banner add is created.

• Auction web/Ebay is launched.

• This is interesting when compared with the 6%

who agreed to this is 2002.
