PowerPoint PowerPoint Basics Open a blank PowerPoint and save it in your new PowerPoint folder under the Applications folder. Slide Layout PowerPoint provides a variety of slide layouts to suit your requirements. The first slide that automatically appears is the Title Slide. Enter Commonwealth Games in the title section. Slide Layout

PowerPoint provides a variety of slide layouts to suit your requirements.

The first slide that automatically appears is the Title Slide.

· Enter Commonwealth Games in the title section.

· Enter Glasgow 2014 in the subtitle section

· Change the font type and size and colour of these headings or use WordArt.

Now, click on Design tab and select a background for your slide. Select either a colour, a texture, a picture or a pattern for your background.

Set this background so it appears on all slides.

· Change the font type, size and colour

· Add spacing in between each sentence

It should look something like this:

Click on New Slide and select Two Content.

· Enter XX Commonwealth Games in the title section. Change the font type, colour and size

· In the left hand Content section, click on the Online Pictures icon.

· In the Bing search section, type in Commonwealth Games. Insert the official Commonwealth Games logo for Glasgow 2014.

· Select Picture Tools and select a Picture Style for your logo.

· In the right hand side content section, type in the following dot points, adding spacing between each:

· 17 sports

· 14 venues

· 6500 athletes and officials

· 71 countries

· Change the font type, size and colour

It should look something like this:

Now, insert a blank slide.

· First, insert a text box for your heading and type Sports as your heading. Change the font type, size and colour.

· Using text boxes and inserting pictures, add the names and a picture of 6 different sports that will be at the Commonwealth Games. Use the following link to locate the information:

· https://www.glasgow2014.com/games/sports

· Format the names and pictures by changing the font type, size and colour and adding Picture Styles to each picture (found under Picture tools).

· Add another text box and reference where you located the pictures (https://www.glasgow2014.com/games/sports)

It should look something like this:

Now, insert Content with Caption slide.

· In the first title section, enter Athlete’s Village. Change the font type, size and colour

· In the content section under this, enter the following:

· Set in Glasgow’s East End, the purpose-built, low carbon village is at the heart of one of Europe’s largest regeneration areas.

· For this text box, add a shape fill colour and add a border

· In the right hand side text box, add the following dot points

· 35 hectare site

· 260,000 items of furniture, fittings and equipment were obtained from the London 2012 Olympics and Paralympics for use in the Athletes’ Village.

· Add a picture background to this text box. Select the Athletes Village picture for Glasgow.

· Add a border around this text box.

It should look something like this:

Insert a Comparison slide.

· In the title section, add a title Australian Commonwealth Team. Change the font type, size and colour.

· In the left hand side header box, add Glasgow 2014. Change the font type, size and colour.

· In the text box underneath, add the following dot points:

· 103 Track and Field athletes

· 10 Badminton athletes

· 41 Cycling athletes

· 11 Boxing athletes

· 10 Artistic Gymnastics

· 29 Shooting athletes

· 12 Diving athletes

· And many more….

· In the right hand side header box, add Gold Coast 2018. Change the font type, size and colour.

· In the text box underneath, add the following dot points:

· 4th – 15th April 2018

· The Gold Coast is in the southeast of the Australian State of Queensland.

· 15 thousand volunteers needed

· 5th time Australia has hosted the Commonwealth Games

· Now add the logo for the Glasgow 2014 and the Gold Coast 2018 games to the slide.

· Reorganise the slide so it all fits in and is well presented.

It should look something like this:

Insert a Picture with Caption slide.

· On the right hand side picture box, insert a picture of Clyde, the mascot for the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games.

· Add a picture style to the picture.

· On the left hand side title box, add a title Glasgow 2014 Mascot “Clyde”.

· In the text box under the title, add Watch the story of Clyde.

· Now, insert a video by clicking on Insert tab and selecting video. In the YouTube section, enter the following link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pdezjj42u_w&feature=youtu.be

Check that your link works by starting the slide show and clicking on the video (you may need to right click and then select Review.
