Job Description

Coventry City of Culture Trust is looking to appoint an experienced Monitoring and Evaluation Officer to manage the collection, analysis and presentation of a variety of different data forms to deliver the Trust’s step changes and inform legacy plans, working to a framework developed by the Trust and its evaluation stakeholders.

The Role

Work closely with the Director of Operations and Legacy, research partners from the University of Warwick and Coventry University and other Trust colleagues, to ensure data is collected, recorded and analysed to ensure successful reporting of progress against step changes

To manage the organisation and delivery of the quantitative and qualitative data that will both inform programming, and be used for a wide range of evaluation purposes

To ensure the correct data is gathered for, and shared with, key funders including the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport, Arts Council England, Heritage Lottery Fund and Spirit of 2012

To attend relevant project meetings to identify opportunities for evaluation and research and to regularly produce reports, for different audiences, that provide up to date monitoring data

Be an internal champion, sharing the importance of research and evaluation within the development of programmes associated with City of Culture

Work with the Director of Operations and Legacy to implement the training of volunteers in data gathering and collection

To be aware of, and undertake to comply with, the Trust’s GDPR, Health and Safety and Diversity and Equality Policies

Person specification

Excellent and proven monitoring and evaluation skills, including qualitative and quantitative methodologies

Excellent analytical skills with an eye for detail, and the ability to develop insights and provide evidence-based findings

Ability to monitor and maintain effective and efficient systems for gathering and analysing complex data.

Knowledge of the UK arts and culture sector, including the funding priorities for key National Lottery distributors, e.g. Arts Council England and Heritage Lottery Fund.

Experience of audience insight analysis and familiarity with the evaluation work and tools developed by sector support agencies and other key sources. (e.g. Audience Agency and Counting what Counts – Quality Metrics)

Experience collecting data from cultural organisations and events to monitor, shape and evaluate impact.

Ability to manage large scale events using mixed methods of evaluation

Experience of working with a customer relationship management system

Strong numeracy skills

Ability to be highly organised, to manage and prioritise workload.

High level IT skills in web, databases, spreadsheets and word processing

Attributes of diplomacy, confidentiality, trust and respect for colleagues and partners

To be based in, or be willing to move to within, commuting distance of Coventry

Flexibility to start January 2019

Terms and conditions

This is a fixed term post until March 2022 The post is working 39 hours (excluding 30 minute/1-hour lunch) per week Monday – Friday at

hours to be agreed between 9am and 6pm with frequent evening work to see shows and events. Flexible working may be agreed

The salary is paid monthly in arrears. If asked to work additional hours at the weekend, Time Off In Lieu will be given if approved in

advance with the Line Manager Pension auto-enrolment is applicable and employer contributions are currently 3%. The Trust’s

appointed pension provider is NEST. Further details are available Holiday 33 days per annum including public holidays. Holiday must be taken at a time to suit all

colleagues. Main place of work is the Trust’s Office with frequent attendance at meetings offsite There is a probation period of three months during which time the notice period is one week; on

confirmation of appointment the notice period is three months On appointment the successful candidate must be able to provide the correct documents as proof

of their right to work in the UK The candidate’s contract of employment with the Trust does not come into force until the first day

of work
