Volume 43, Issue 16 August 15, 2012 SPRINGDALE BAPTIST CHURCH: Believing Jesus, Living Jesus, Teaching JesusThe Olympics are over and London did a great job in hosting the games and providing a stage for the entire world to come together and experience victory and “the agony of defeat.” Now, I can start getting more sleep! The internet, TV and newspapers are full of images that reflect the games with each one boasting to be showing the most impressive moments of the Olympics. That is exciting for now but in a few weeks the glory will start to fade and we will start forgetting names like Gabby Douglas, Michael Phelps, and … I already cannot remember who won badminton and synchronized swimming! Aren’t you glad that the victory and glory of your Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, does not fade or start to tarnish? When Jesus gave us that ultimate victory over death by coming back to life on that first Easter morning, we need not look any further for the most impressive moment in history. It happened through Jesus because of His great love for you and His unwavering obedience to His Father. His thousands of years of preparation paid off. Jesus is the true champion! And one of the great outcomes is that His victory is just as fresh today as ever. Nothing has been lost over the years and nothing can be taken away in the years to come. His victory is the most decisive and definite victory ever! There will be no breaking of His world record. Let’s you and I make the commitment that we will not be caught up in all the worldly victories that will fade, but that we will live according to that victory that Jesus gives each one of us that will last for eternity. Remember there are plenty of people watching to see what we are celebrating. Will your celebration be short lived or last forever! SPRINGDALE BAPTIST CHURCH:

“Believing Jesus, Living Jesus, Teaching Jesus”

The Olympics are over and London did a great job in hosting the games and providing a stage for the entire world to come together and experience victory and “the agony of defeat.” Now, I can start getting more sleep! The internet, TV and newspapers are full of images that reflect the games with each one boasting to be showing the most impressive moments of

the Olympics. Thank God for answered

prayer. Cindi Anderson and

Jeanie Corley began the new

College and Career Class on

August 12. This has been a

prayer concern for a long

time. Maybe this is the

timing God had planned all

along. We are thankful to

God for Cindi and Jeanie for their willingness

to serve. Keep praying for them and the

entire new class. Pray that many young adults

will learn the truth of God’s Word and teach

others. We are in need of a first and second grade

Sunday School teacher, nursery workers, and

preschool teachers. I have a list of eighteen

names that I am praying over. I have asked

others to pray with me over each name. Will

you join us as we call on God to send work-

ers into the harvest? As you pray, your name

might be one that is called to help teach our

children. I know there is someone out there

who will answer the call. We are also beginning Small Group Bible

Studies. The first one begins September 6 on

Thursday evenings at 7:00 p.m. until 8:00

p.m. The class will meet at the McGill home.

We want to keep the groups to no more than

12 people. We have already had a commit-

ment from 16 people. That means we will

start two groups, the second being at a time

and place to be announced. We have a sign-

up sheet at the back of the church. If you

have not already signed up, do so soon! The

subject of the first 9-week study will be

“Crazy Love”, by Francis Chan. It will be a

very good study about God’s love.

Joyfully Serving,

Gary

Continues through August 22

A list of their needs is included in this

newsletter and is also available at the church

office. You may bring items to the church

office at any time. Thank You!

Nothing but the knowledge

of God, as the Holy One, will

make us holy. And how are we

to obtain that knowledge of

God, except in...our private

place of prayer? It is a thing

utterly impossible unless we

take time and allow the

holiness of God to shine on

us.

And if you look for it...then you

will understand the fear of the

Lord and find the knowledge of

God.
