WICHITA FALLS, TX – Newly acquired forward JordanMiller tallied two third period goals as the Corpus ChristiIceRays won their third straight road game, 4-2, over theWichita Falls Wildcats at the Kay Yeager Coliseum on Fridaynight. With the win, Corpus Christi improves to 10-11-2 (22points) while the Wildcats drop to 14-9-2 (30 points) overall.Michael Benedict and Jonathan Sdao had the other tallies forthe IceRays as Pheonix Copley collected his third win in asmany starts in between the pipes.There was no scoring in the first period as both Eric Garavagliaand Copley made some spectacular saves to keep the gamescoreless. Shots were 14-9 in favor of the Wildcats.Corpus Christi opened the second period scoring with twogoals, 58 seconds apart to take a 2-0 lead. At the 5:08 mark ofthe period, Jake Diamond’s forechecking pressure resulted ina turnover in the slot for Jonathan Sdao (4) who wristed a shotpast Garavaglia putting Corpus Christi ahead 1-0. Jason Souvaalso assisted on the goal. Less than a minute later, at the 6:06mark, Benedict (12) walked in on a breakaway and beatGaravaglia on the backhand to extend the IceRays lead to 2-0.After a Tommy Dowell and Jason McAloon fight created somemomentum for the Wildcats, Wichita Falls responded with twogoals to tie the game before the second period ended. At 8:41,on the power play, Tanner Fahlstedt (4) snapped a shot pastCopley to cut the deficit in half, 2-1. The Wildcats tied thegame 15:53 when Mac Olson (13) ripped a bad angle wrist shotinto the back of the net to knot the game, 2-2. The IceRays heldthe shot advantage, 14-12.It did not take long for the IceRays to retake the lead though asMiller (1) tipped a Colton Saucerman shot from the point onthe power play behind Garavaglia putting Corpus Christi ahead,3-2. New arrival Mychal Monteith picked up the other assist.Miller (2) scored his second of the game into an empty-net afterPheonix Copley nearly scored from inside his own net. It wasthe final goal of the game as the IceRays won, 4-2. Final shotswere 37-32 in favor of Wichita Falls.
