Dear Parents and Caregivers What a first semester we have had; for the second year in a row, the first 20 weeks of the school year has been punctuated with shutdowns and restrictions linked to COVID-19! With this in mind, I would like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank all the Teachers, EAs, School Support Staff, Gardeners and Cleaners who have kept our school open and safe throughout the past 6 months. We are truly blessed to have such wonderfully committed and caring individuals working with our students on a daily basis. Likewise, I would like to thank all of our students for the way they have adapted to changing situations, and not just surviving, but thriving on the added responsibility and independence expected of them in these times. Finally, and most importantly, I would like to thank all the parents and carers of Gosnells Primary School students for your ongoing understanding and unwavering support of our endeavours to protect the safety and well-being of our students and their families through a uniquely difficult set of circumstances. I am acutely aware how lucky I am to be Principal of Gosnells Primary School at a time when it feels like things are changing quickly and continually. As we head into a well-deserved mid-year break, we are once again in a state of uncertainty around the recent positive COVID cases in the community and the restrictions imposed by our state government in response to them. As it stands right now, Gosnells Primary School remains open this week with the following conditions in place: All staff are required to wear masks when they are inside the school buildings, with an exemption for teachers when they are at the front of a class teaching; Staff are required to wear masks outside, only when appropriate physical distancing can not be maintained; Parents are allowed on school site; however, they must wear a mask at all times and observe the 2 square metre physical distancing from other adults; Onsite meetings can proceed as planned, as long as participants wear masks and maintain appropriate physical distancing. In order to stay informed of any potential changes to the current conditions in place at our school, please make sure you have provided an up-to-date email address as this, as well as our Facebook page and the See Saw App, will be our primary means of communication over the holidays. FROM THE PRINCIPAL (continued)

At this point in time, considering the current health advice, we are planning to proceed with our annual school photo shoot to be held at Gosnells Primary School on Monday, 19 and Thursday, 22 July (Week One, Term Three). Further information regarding photo packages and their costs were sent home with children last week. We will post reminders on our Facebook page, but it may pay to mark your calendars now as the first photo day is our first day back at school next term! Regards
