One milestone achieved — another journey begins! IFBI crosses 10,000 placement mark!

When Sunil Gavaskar, the original Little Master of cricket (now more famous as an IPL commentator), crossed

the 10,000 Test runs mark—he was the first batsman in the world to do so. When an interviewer asked him what the

achievement meant, Gavaskar replied ―Everyone remembers Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay as being the first to

climb the Everest‖.

In anyone's life—there are moments to re-

member and milestones to cherish for a lifetime.

So, dear readers, even though this issue of IFBI

WINGS has been late in making its appearance,

we could not think of a better leading story than

the 10,000 placements milestone. What a mile-

stone it has been !

It is the result of students who placed their

trust in a new organization like IFBI. It is the rec-

ognition of Partner Organizations who guided

IFBI in its initial days giving it corporate training

business and placement opportunities. It is the ger-

mination of an idea taken to fruition by NIIT and

ICICI Bank. It is the work of committed and dedi-

cated staff of IFBI all over the country.

S. Venkatesh, President, IFBI said, ―We

achieved a major landmark as we drew the curtains

for 2010 – IFBI crossed the 10,000 placement

mark, since inception. This is by all means is a great and rare achievement, especially in such a short span of time. No

matter what the other significance of this milestone, to me it will always been the proverbial lighting of lamp in many

houses—of a youngster who decided to make a career in BFSI and made it a reality‖ .

Every student would like to belong to in institution which not just provides him or her the first job, but continues to

grow in stature. Few would know that IFBI has trained over 34,000 people in Banks and Financial Services organizations or

conducts training programs in Nepal or in Invest-

ment Banking. There is an IFBI that we all know,

and some that we all don't know. So, read on and

enjoy the pages ahead—success stories of alumni,

new initiatives, celebrations and so on. It is a story

that you are very much a part of and one which you

helped build! Congratulations, thanks and wish you

great times ahead—Editor

work on 13th December the scenario

was different. I was given Cash Man-

agement with a package of 2.8 lacs-

that my life changed. New city, new

life, what else what else does a fresher

need out of college.

I thank IFBI for providing this opportu-

nity to look at life and banking, the way

it should be. IFBI has been a positive

step in my life‖.

New initiatives @ IFBI

The Environment—As the BFSI industry grows in India, banks and financial or-

ganizations have decided to proliferate and make use of their core strengths to ad-

dress a larger area. When this happens, the first need is to increase the business and

therefore the demand for sales qualified personnel increases. Many Banks are also

getting out of the ―off rolls‖ concept and moving to Branch based sales as a core

strategy.

The Opportunity—Readers will appreciate that the Business and Profit of organizations are driven strongly

by the Sales Function. No wonder then, that organizations like ICICI Bank are planning to hire more than

7,000 people in the sales function. Similar strategy is visible in many other banks as well, including Public

Sector Banks.

The Pathway—IFBI, which has made a mark in large volume placements in the Banking Sector has tied up

with ICICI Bank to provide training and career opportunities in sales. The program is

a blend of domain, customer service and selling skills. This program is managed by

IFBI Sales Academy and aims to build well-skilled sales professionals for the BFSI

Industry. The programs offer career options of executive level sales career in lead-

ing Banks & Financial Services organizations. The

programs are conducted by experienced industry ex-

perts.

.

IFBI launches Preparation for PSU Clerical & PO Exams (PCPO) State-owned Public Sector (PSU) banks are on a recruitment drive

to hire clerical staff and officers. Aspiring candidates for banking jobs in

PSU banks, have to undergo a Test conducted by Institute of Personal

Banking Selection ( IBPS) and a personal interview. Intense preparation

and practice is one of the sure shot ways of clearing the recruitment test. I

In addition, going through professional coaching from a reputed

institute which offers specific courses will be a catalyst for success in clear-

ing these exams. Recognizing the need for a scientific and systematic ap-

proach required for preparation for these exams, NIIT IFBI has launched

Preparation for Clerical & PO Exams (PCPO) courses. These courses

would enable youth to realize their aspiration of joining leading Public sec-

tor banks by having access to superior coaching.

IFBI President S Venkatesh says ―As 4th March 2011 dawned, IFBI

witnessed a major launch in the form of PCPO. To me personally it gives

the same feeling as I had on October 5th 2006, when we launched the first

advertisement for IFBI. It is the start of a new journey of success‖ .

When HR Man-agers are look-ing for high quality training

options, there is a new des-tination for Change Man-agement Training and Soft Skills Training!

IFBI has slowly but surely made its mark in training in Soft Skills, Sales and Domain areas for Pub-lic Sector Banks.

Canara Bank and Corporation Bank kept IFBI trainers very busy from Oc-tober 2010 to March 2011. Over 3000 bankers at-tended IFBI training.
