When Memories, Pride and Success came together ! At 7:00PM on 21st December 2013, India Habitat Center was all decked up to be a venue for a mega event. YES!!! This was the venue for “CELEBRATING IFBI ALUMNI SUCCESS”. An event, which promised to be a fascinating and outstanding event for Alumni and Staff IFBIians. Institute of Finance, Banking and Insurance (IFBI) had recently completed 7 years since incep-tion and achieved the mark of 25,000 placements. The team decided to celebrate the success of their alumni who have moved up the ladder in their career. The event also marked one of the key milestones of the NIIT Chairman’s Quality Club (CQC) project for the year 2013. The invitees for the event were: Our Alumni working with renowned banks, current students, prospective enrolments and IFBI staff. The IFBI alumni took time off from their busy schedule at office and ensured their attendance for this momentous event. Some of them even shared how they complet-ed the work before time on a busy Saturday, so that they don’t give this event a miss even for a minute.

That was the start of the exhil-aration of the event. The event started with a video which showcased the career progression of our alumni and what they had to say about us. It was followed by a Diya lighting by Bimal Jain – President and Head-IFBI , Arjun Shankar Chief - Strategy and Operations IFBI, Mr Subramanian Academic Co-ordinator IFBI Delhi along with some other senior dignitaries from NIIT group. Mr.H D Gagneja and Ms. Urvashi Ash-ta (Senior Faculty member of IFBI Delhi) drew on their rich experience and shared how to

grow in the Banking industry. A felicitation ceremony was conducted to honor the Alumni by giving them a special IFBI me-mento along with chess board signed by NIIT Mind Champion and five times world chess champion-Viswanthan Anand. IFBI Alumni shared some very interesting incidents of their work life and work culture at banks. They also shared how IFBI transformed their life and gave a jump start to their career. They recounted

how they moved up the ladder using the knowledge which was imparted to them during their stint at IFBI. As they came up to receive their mementos there were short spot surprising interviews and they were asked for their comments. There were moments of laughter too! The environment was ecstatic. The words – JOY, SUC-CESS, HAPPINESS, and SATISFACTION found new meaning on that platform. Many in the audience were moved with emo-tions when alumni were sharing candid success stories. It was direct heart-to-heart connection! It was amazing to see the regard and respect of the stu-dents for their faculty. Visual props included banners, a celebra-tion back drop, Powerpoint presentation and the entire event was video graphed too. A grand event had concluded, but mem-ories will surely linger. Some comments at the end of the event were—“It was a really nice event and I am feeling honored”. “It was a pleasure being here in such a marvelous event. Wonderful experience will cherish memories always”. “It was a positive surprise for me to be called by the institute and I feel honored to receive award. Thanks!” In the last segment of the event, a vote of thanks was offered by Poonam Sharma, National Ed-ucation Administration Head IFBI. The event concluded with group photographs of the alumni with their batch mates, IFBI Team and Faculty Members. At the end of photo session, a delicious dinner was served to all, even as a fun video played in the background. This was undoubtedly one of the most memorable moments in the history of IFBI!!! The entire team at NIIT IFBI had co-ordinated commendably in a short span of time playing the “PERFECT HOST” to the homecoming Alumni. “What a day ! And more to come”, assured Poonam.

DID YOU KNOW?? The leading consultancy firm Mckin-sey has shared that the Nationalized bank hiring is set to surge in the next few years. It is also expected that 60-90 percent of the bank’s senior management which includes deputy general managers/general managers of PSU banks are also set to retire by 2016-17. This means 1,50,000 jobs might be created eve-ry year for the next four years in both public as well as private sector banks.

“Tales of Passion”. An Alumnus shared his pride at gift-ing a gold ring to his mother from his salary. Another alumnus shared how she became the first one to buy a car in her family. Another alumnus shared his personal story of how he found success through IFBI and then enrolled his brother and sister at the same institution. Another alumnus recounted how IFBI came as a god-send when he and his batch mates were confused after graduation about their career paths.


News from the World of IFBI


NIIT IFBI has now diversified into Finance and Accounting domain, unlocking a new line of busi-ness and adding to the vast offering of the banking training programs for which it is already well known. The Global Finance and Accounting program (GFAR) will meet the hiring needs of the Business Process Management Industry in the three main areas of specialization in the F&A space– Record to Report, Procure to Pay and Order to Cash. The program partners are Genpact and NIIT Uniqua. The Global Finance and Accounting program is a certifi-cate level program designed for bright young graduates for an exciting career in Finance and Accounting. This program equips the candidates with necessary skills for high productivi-ty & performance required for Global Accounting. Four batches for F&A with Reconciliation as a specializa-tion have been launched in Delhi NCR, Hyderabad and Kolka-ta. Over 50 students have been placed in Genpact already.

“This institute provides the best of the courses for the freshers and under graduates which help them in getting jobs and improving their skills by learning new things” says GFAR student Palak Ahuja. Mohit Kumar shared his views, “The program was very helpful especially the projects which gave me lot of practical knowledge. troductory session and welcome speech by Mr. Bobby John, (National Quality Education Head). The sessions were handled by Mr.

Prabir Bose and Ms. Lakshmi Madhavan with the assistance of Mr. Avijit Roy and his team. The trainees enjoyed their sessions on Quality Customer Service and Selling Skills. They actively participated in Role Plays, Activities, Exercises, Case Studies and ISAS presentations. The participants were taken on a tour of Kolkata on Sunday, the 27

October, which they thoroughly enjoyed and felt mesmerized. They also partici-pated in the center celebration on the occasion of Diwali. The trainees honored IFBI by perform-ing the national dance of Bhutan besides ren-dering some national songs. Mr.Damche Tenzin, Chief Supporting officer and Ms. Kunzen Choden Tshering, Head -HRD of Bank of Bhutan were present for the students presentation and were quite impressed with the training quality. The presentation and the results of the tests showed the immense efforts and their seriousness about the course.

BANKPLUS Programs for banking professionals

IFBI explored yet another domain and launched certification programs through Bank Plus series, especially to cater the needs of the working professionals in banking sector. Under this umbrella, IFBI offers certificate programs in SME Finance, Stressed Assets Management, Trade Finance and Foreign Exchange. These programs have been designed for professionals who wish to enhance their skills in specific Banking and Finance domains. In addition to this, they can keep abreast with latest knowledge from the financial world. The objective of this program is to expose the participants to the best practices and current trends prevalent in today’s economic scenar-io. The programs enable the participant to earn a certification in their chosen domain without interrupting their work life or leaving their current location. This is made possible through Synchronous Learning Technology powered by high-tech studios and VSAT based connectivity. So far, IFBI has trained 60+ working professionals through these Finance and Banking pro-

IFBI Trains Bank officers from Bhutan

IFBI had partnered with Allahabad Bank to train their Sin-gle Window Operator’s (SWO-A). IFBI with its world class infra-structure and expert faculty team did a residential campus based training for Allahabad bank employees which lasted for a month. This training started on 21st Oct’13 which was conducted at two different locations - Meenakshi Amman College of Engineering –Kanchipuram, and Vidya Park –Meerut. The Chief Manager and AGM of bank, Mr.Ramana and Mr.Bhattacharya inaugurated the program at these locations respectively. The candidates were sourced from different locations of North and South India. They were trained on Domain and Soft Skillsduring this period. IFBI Faculty members - Mr. Alok Malhotra, Mr. Rakesh Sharma, Mr. Vinodh Chandran, Mr. Kailash Mathur, Mr C.Raghunathan, Mr Ramesh Raman, Mr.Arvind Ram, Mr Ka-

baleeswaran & Mr Chandrasekaran were some of the ace faculty members of this program who deliv-ered the program at these two campuses and transformed the lives of many candidates. Chairman & Managing Director of Allahabad Bank Ms.Subbulakshmi Panse visited the Kanchi-puram campus and addressed the batch students. She shared that, “My visit to the college was an enjoyable experience as the college was set up in a totally green environment. The facilities, I am told are good and SWO Batch is enjoying its experi-ence during the training. My good wishes to the college authorities and the faculty members”. IFBI has trained 341 students at these campuses. The valediction ceremony of the program took place at both locations on 19th November 2013. Participants were happy about the program and ar-rangements at both locations.


IFBI Cochin celebrates Onam

September 2013. The event was nicely coordinated by the staff and students. The staff members, facul-

ty and the students were dressed in traditional attire and celebrated Onam, the festival of prosperity with Pookolam, Onam Sadya (traditional Kerala lunch). They also sang some Onam songs. It was a festive atmosphere at one of IFBI’s youngest centers.

IFBI conducts first of its kind Induction program for Allahabad Bank

ICICI Sales Program training at our Meerut Campus IFBI has been successfully conducting training for ICICI Banks’ Junior Officer profile at different loca-tions. One such location happens to be in the Kranti City, Meerut—60kms from Delhi, where we started the training in the month of July 2013. So far, IFBI has trained and placed 462 stu-dents with ICICI bank from this campus. Stu-dents of batch III who joined ICICI Bank on 13th Nov’13.

Another interesting step that IFBI has taken is connecting IFBI current students with IFBI’s Alumni. IFBI alumni who are working with

different banks visit IFBI centers and brief students on what to expect in their work life. They visit the class-room sessions and address the students at center on their role, career path, daily transactions, customer orientation, openness to sales and achievement of the

sales target etc. Students participate actively in these discussions and clarify their doubts from their seniors. Some pictures of these activities can be seen here.

Nagpur: On September 16, 2013, IFBI Nagpur conducted an Alum-

ni meet where Shripad Khanwalkar and Abhishek Dixit from ICICI Bank, Goa and Ankur Banka currently working with IndusInd Bank,

Nagpur shared their experience of working in banks. They talked about past memories, present experiences and future aspira-tions. Another highlight of this event was the presence of two of our PGDB students Ceriann Pramanik and Apurva Bhole who got placed in Indusind Bank Nag-pur Branch even before they could complete the program at IFBI! They got an opportunity to appear

in the interview at Indusind Bank during their 2nd

term itself. Mr. Ankur Banka helped them to arrange their interview and other formalities at the bank. It is worth appreciating that our respected faculty Mr. Prashant Kulkarni, Mr. Boradkar and Ms. Priya Tatwawadi gave invalu-able guidance to our students and alumni. Team IFBI Ahmedabad writes : It all began with the flow of Energy of experience sharing and counseling from our IFBI Alumni to the New IFBI enrolls. The three sessions, conducted over a span of 3 months in August, September and October 2013 were an enlightening experience to the present batches of IFBI. Alumni played the role of proud mentors while the present students were more than eager to receive words of wisdom from their experienced seniors. Few important learnings to mention here were: “Being Customer Centric” “Importance of Grooming & Communication” “Definite growth in Banking through Focused Efforts & Certifica-tions”. The session was concluded with the sou-venir distribution to the stars for being a part of the career building exercise. It was really an affair to remember for all the past and present students.
