A message from the series editors

Pam Counsell and Chris Jones

Regional Advisers for ICT Secondary National Strategy

As you know, the new Programme of Study and Framework for ICT were introduced in September. Every week we speak to teachers who want to make the most of these new opportunities to deliver good practice in an interesting way, but who are worried that they will not have the time to do so.

ICT 4 Life has been developed to help both pupils and teachers to be creative and enthusiastic - resulting in many moreenthusiastic, capable learners. How does it do this?

For pupils:

The software and contexts really capture their interest, with steady progression throughout Key Stage 3, ready for KeyStage 4 and with the potential for home access through the FREE Pupil Book CD-ROM or through the school’s VLE.

For teachers:

The most accurate and easy-to-use assessment we’ve seen. Building on existing successful LEA practice, it automaticallyassembles evidence of pupil attainment, with guidance on assessing capability. And all lessons are completelyready-to-teach, including all electronic files needed with additional support and assessment guidance where appropriate.

For ICT subject leaders:

Save time by using our ready-made schemes of work, with everything matched to the new Programme of Study, Framework and Functional Skills in ICT Standards!

Many teachers have said how it meets their needs exactly - and many more are already using it. Why not order an evaluation copy now and see for yourself?

Welcome toWritten by Regional National Strategy Advisers, experienced teachers and consultants, ICT 4 Life really helps

schools to teach and assess capability accurately, effectively and practically. ICT 4 Life is not only built around

the new National Curriculum and Framework, it offers an unparalleled scenario-based approach to meet the

Framework’s requirements for real problem-solving. The contexts themselves, such as gaming and creating

videos, websites and animations really capture pupils’ interest and help them progress smoothly to Key Stage 4,

along with guidance from an examiner in Functional Skills in ICT throughout ICT 4 Life 3.

We have replaced our Year 7 ICT schemesof work and use ICT 4 Life instead, the pupils and the staff love it!
