The students learned the principles of assessment and magnification for persons with low vision. They were also introduced to the other disciplines of vision rehabilitation.

Thank to the support of a DAAD program, five of the seven master’s students went to Germany from May 17 to 27 for a study visit organized by Philipps University in Marburg.

In June, the Royal Dutch Visio organized a clinical training for Yosur while Rania was introduced to the vision rehabilitation services offered in the Netherlands and their data management.

In March, an interim meeting of the contact persons representing the organizations in the consortium was organized by the GJU at Aston University (UK).

كما نظمت اجلامعة األملانية األردنية لقاء املنتصف يف آذار والذي جمع ممثلني من

املؤسسات الشريكة يف جامعة أستون )اململكة املتحدة(.

تلقت يسر تدريبا سريريا يف حزيران بتنظيم من املؤسسة الهولندية

امللكية )فيزيو(، بينما اطلعت رانيا على خدمات التأهيل البصري التي تقدمها

هولندا وكيفية إدارة البيانات.

For the second time in the summer, students in optometry from Al-Najjah National University and in occupational therapy from Bethlehem University took a 2 week introductory course in vision rehabilitation.

TOTECS

A two year project was launched in November: the Training Of Trainers in Extra Curricular Skills (TOTECS) for students with visual impairment. The trainees are from Afghanistan, Egypt, Jordan, Pakistan, Palestine (West Bank and Gaza) and Tajikistan. The trainers for the first week came for the Royal Dutch Visio (Netherlands) while the second week of training was provided by the GJU.

يف تشرين الثاين مت إطالق مشروع تدريب املدربني يف املهارات الالمنهجية )TOTECS( للطلاب ذوي اإلعاقة البصرية،والذي سيستمر سنتني. يضم املشروع متدربني من أفغانستان ومصر واألردن وباكستان

وفلسطني )الضفة الغربية و قطاع غزة( وطاجيكستان. شارك يف التدريب مدربون من املؤسسة الهولندية امللكية )فيزيو( )هولندا( ، ومدربون من اجلامعة األملانية األردنية يف األسبوع الثاين.

The training was very practical to make the sighted trainees experience the consequences of a visual disability while the trainees with visual impairment learned techniques and strategies to use in their daily lives.

Teachers’ training to do vision screeningتدريب املعلمني على الكشف البصري

أعد كادر مركز التدريب البصري ورشة عمل ألخصائيي البصريات يف املؤمتر الدويل الثاين

عشر جلمعية أطباء العيون األردنية )أيار، مبشاركة أندرو ميلر( و أخرى ألعضاء من

اجلمعية األردنية لفاحصي البصر)أيلول(. كما عملوا على تقييم أطفال من مركز بيت اللقاء

لذوي اإلحتياجات اخلاصة يف مادبا، وتدريب املعلمني فيها.

The VTC staff offered a workshop for optometrists at the 12th International Conference of the Jordanian Ophthalmic Society (May, with Andrew Miller) and to the member of the Optometry Association (September). They also screened children in Beit Iliqa’, a special school in Madaba, and trained the teachers.

يف الفرتة ما بني 13 و 17 أيلول، 2015عقدت دورة تدريبية متهيدية حول تقييم األشخاص ضعاف البصر وحساب التكبري

الالزم ألخصائيي فحص البصر من نقابة أخصائيو البصريات الفلسطينيني )الضفة الغربية(.

Solving puzzles with simulation glassesحل العاب الرتكيب باستخدام نظارات احملاكاة

Between the 13th and 17th of September 2015, 13 optometrists from the Palestinian Council of Optometry and Optics (West Bank) took an introductory course on assessment and magnification for persons with low vision.

In March, Emmanuel, lecturer at the department of Optometry and Vision Sciences, Masinde Muliro University, Kakamega, Kenya, took a one month tailored course on low vision.

The users of the VTC services come individ-ually or in groups. This year, we had users from the Royal Academy for the Blind, Saudi Center for Blind Women, AlHarth Society for Al-binism (Tafileh) and the Society for Child Care (Mafraq).

For persons with low vision, differ-ent tasks require different solu-tions. Once the person chooses a device, he or she receives training on how to use it.
