4. The British general tried to flee Yorktown. What kept them from escaping?

5. What problems did the British encounter several days into the battle?

6. When did the British Parliament pass the resolution to not fight with the Americans any

more? When was the official treaty signed that ended the American Revolution? Why

do you think it was so long after the Battle of Yorktown?

The Constitution

1. Who is considered the “Father of the Constitution?”

2. How many times did the Constitutional Convention have to meet before there were

enough delegates to sign the document?

3. How many delegates actually signed the Constitution? How many refused to sign?

(Bonus: Which delegates refused to sign and what reasons did they give for refusing?)

4. When was the Constitution officially adopted? (Hint: It’s the day we celebrate as

Constitution Day.)

5. Where is the actual Constitution located now?

6. Take some time to memorize the Preamble to the Constitution. Recite it to your
