Word StudyOur word study focus for the next two weeks will be spelling and adding apostrophes correctly to CONTRACTIONS. A new packet will be sent home on Tuesday. Students should be practicing their word study words each night. They will be tested over these words next Friday 2/27.

READING/ELAThis week we will continue our study of penguins. We will continue reading the chapter book, “Eve of the Emperor Penguin”. This is a fiction story in the Magic Tree House series. We are going to spend several weeks on this story. We will be focusing on vocabulary and summarizing. They will have an Expedition Log that will come home at the end.
In ELA, we will continue learning about adding apostrophes to possessive nouns and contractions. There will be a test on Friday.

Science This week we will begin learning about force. We will visit the playground and decide whether or not the equipment needs a push or a pull in order to be set in motion. We will also learn about friction.
