HOPE LODGE®
The American Cancer Society Hope Lodge® program offers cancer patients and their caregivers a free place to stay when receiving treatment away from home.
• More than 30 locations in 21 states and Puerto Rico
• Saved more than $36 million in lodging costs for nearly 44,000 patients and caregivers in 2014
• More than 276,000 nights provided by the Society and its in-kind partners in 2014
• Partners’ choice to support operations, campaigns for new Hope Lodge facilities or remodels in select new locations, or patient-experience enhancements
• Society’s Hotel Partner Program (where Hope Lodge program is unavailable) – complimentary hotel rooms for patients and caregivers
ROAD TO RECOVERY®
The Road To Recovery program provides transportation to and from treatment and related medical appointments for people who have cancer and do not have a ride or are unable to drive themselves.
• More than 341,000 rides to cancer treatment provided to patients in 2014
Transportation Assistance (where Road To Recovery volunteers are not available) – other forms of assistance such as in-kindshuttle service or discounts on rental cars; or air miles, transit/taxi vouchers, etc., mainly to benefit underserved individuals
AMERICAN CANCER SOCIETY CANCER ACTION NETWORKSM (ACSCAN)ACS CAN, the Society’s advocacy affiliate, supports public policies that are helping to defeat cancer. ACS CAN’s policy priorities include:
• Increasing federal funding for cancer research
• Enacting laws creating smoke-free workplaces, increasing tobacco taxes and funding tobacco cessation programs
• Improving access to quality, affordable health care for people with cancer and their families
• Promoting palliative care, which treats the patient as well as the disease and emphasizes a patient’s quality of life
PROMOTING HEALTH EQUITY THROUGH CHANGEThe Society’s Community Health Advocates implementing Nationwide Grants for Empowerment and Equity (CHANGE) grant program helps individuals prevent or find cancer early. The program builds community capacity to implement proven methods that increase cancer screening rates and improve health within communities experiencing an unequal cancer burden.
SERVES communities with the highest cancer incidence and mortality rates, and the lowest screening rates
PROVIDES screening, education, navigation, and outreach through culturally and linguistically appropriate methods
ENSURES coordination of follow-up care when there is a diagnosis
MAKING AN IMPACT THROUGH CHANGE• Corporate partners including Walmart, the NFL, Walgreens, and promotions such as Lee National
Denim Day have contributed more than $24.5 million to this grant program alone, providing funding for more than 300 CHANGE grants.
• As of January 2015, more than 889,035 individuals have received outreach, education and navigation.
• As of January 2015, more than 357,757 have received a low- or no-cost screening.

not tested as recommended.

ORGANIZATIONS have committed to eliminating colorectal cancer as a major health problem
and are working toward the shared goal of 80% of adults age 50 and older being regularly
screened for colorectal cancer by 2018.

members and stakeholders to help prevent colon cancer or find it early, when treatment is most
effective.

RELAY FOR LIFE®
The world’s largest, grassroots fundraising event to raise cancer awareness and end the fight against cancer.
In 2014, 4 million people were involved in 6,000 American Cancer Society Relay For Life events representing 24 countries including the US, and raising $400 million worldwide.

In 2014, events raised more than $60 million to fight breast cancer.
