IMPROVING COURSE ‘BASIC PEDAGOGY’ - AIMS 2011

Increase competencies to reflect and to provide different levels of written (peer) feedback

Experience the pedagogical possibilities of ICT, so student teachers could learn various ways of using ICT in their own classroom as starting teachers;

More extensive teaching method ( less face-to-face sessions and more virtual learning activities and coaching)

INTERACTIVE WEBINAR: STUDENT QUOTES

“Nice way (and pleasant that I could sleep long)! Handy way that we immediately/ simultaneously could use our VLE to ask questions!”

INTERACTIVE WEBINAR: STUDENT QUOTES

“Very positive that the aim of this lecture has been realized in such an efficient way! As the rest of our group says, the message was transmitted very clearly, we can go on with improving our lesson plans and it was easy to ask questions. It felt like we were following this lecture as a group, very funny! Excellent way to do it another time this way! Thank you very much for providing nice feedback!”

TEACHER TRAINER MARIJKE LEIJDEKKERS:EXPERIENCES & TIPS INTERACTIVE WEBINAR

“Before the webinar started I was afraid that nobody would be watching and reacting. However through stimulating my student’s reactions by giving them some short activating tasks they could answer on the VLE during the webinar a nice interaction started. Thereby it was an advantage that I had structured my webinar well by adding ‘category folders’ on a special discussion board I had created on our VLE before the webinar started. By letting my students adding their questions in de ‘category folders’ on this discussion board, I was also able to answer the questions I wasn't able to answer during the webinar afterwards.”

(OPTIONAL SHEET, DURING DISCUSSION):MORE TEACHER TIPS

• Be sure about what you want to tell before you start recording;• Record several short knowledge clips;• Record in a room where you can sit alone;• Record the whole knowledge clip at once (you can ‘pause’ the

recording as often as you want) to avoid editing afterwards!• Use not only PowerPoint as a basis of your knowledge clip, but

also PREZI sometimes for a change (especially when you are explaining models)

• Run statistics of how often/ when students watch clips;• If you use a VLE for your course, it’s more logical that your students can watch the clips also on the VLE. Ensure that video’s are available as streaming video’s.
