The Passing Parade of t.he "1948" graduating class of F.C.H.S. started on a glorious autumn day in 1942. We were sixteen shiney faced freshmen, originally called green-horns. The doors were open wide; the hall of fame \'ias brightly lit; .,1e were all initiated into a. new life. Hary Maddalone \'Jas elected president; Anne Harvett, the vice-president; and Barbara Brown, Secretary am trear:urer. Life ..,;as (1Uite gay, but it was difficult £etting ourselves accustomed to being freshmen.
The next previe"1 in our Passing Parade was \·hen ;..e all became the sophomores. Thirteen starry-eyed sophs peeked into the tall of fame one Se~tember morning. ~e decided to march right are ad with a ~ear of important events. Glenn Beck became tre presient; Beverly Marolt 1 vice-president; Alice r.:ikkelsen, secret&ry and treasureer treasurer. This ~as one of our most important years in Aspen High, arxi \'.rill always be one of the greatest memories in the hearts of the class.
Third preview was on a very sunny autumn day : hen s ixteen of us all marched excitedly through the open doors of P.C.H.S. All our faces \;ere glowing Hith hope, because were we nO\·T to become juniors. Unfortunately, school was delayed, the polj o epici emi c was serious at the tirr.e, so \ve all .,·en t r.ome for a longer vacation. \\'hen \'Je returned to scr.ool later in the ye&r, everything started off \d th a !tBanf." · Glenn Beck \ faJ' reelected president, Stanley Zelnick, vice-r president, and Beverly Stallard, secretary and trea~urer. Mrs. \\'aterman was our s ponsor, and vle began the year '·:ith a party. Later we gave a movie "In Old \'Jyoming." rNi th this money we : tarted storine away_ our treasure for the Junior-Senior Banquet, and ot' er activite activities. He rave our bonruet on May 17, 1947. From the banc1uet we went to the prom, 1;tr.ich ,.,as based on 11 A Wishing Well"theme. The year proved very suc<.essfu, and v.e made ourselves ready for tbe year to follovv in t r:e balls of fame and memory.
Tl:e last previe\·1 in Aspen High began once again on a bright Selt er:1ber day. Seventeen seniors entered s r.hool , but only fifteen stayed to coutinue. Two membe:rs of the class joined t he navy. Alice l~ikkelsen was elected class president,, Stanley Zelnick, vice-presiee~ president, ~lenn Glenn Beck, trea-surer, Beverly Caster, secretary. We storte0 t!:e yec: r out enthusiasti ca .. ly. Mrs. Vera Vay HasRins .-:as our sponsor. There ;.;ere sever&l changes in teachers, but \'le managed to carry on am rP, cei ve our diplomas. Our first great e'lcnt of the year • ~ · was a Hall.mveen Dance. On Easter t!onday we gave a d.~nce and raffled off c..n Easter Bunny. Our prom, a gala affair, \-ra~ on April 23rd. Commencement e>.ercises were on t.·~ay ?Oth . Off vre \-lent on a wonderful sneak day. Now tf: doors to t~~e hall of far:1e are closing , ·out \':e kno\lr that life is all tbe Big Passin~ Parade, ~ o \•e simply r;o on to aeotr er \'.ider and r~reater field of careers and futures dedice:.ted to the t~~k of belping to brine; peace and security to our one 1· orld.
