Values Both Adults, Teens and Kids Learn from Playing Mobile Games We must admit that the definition of fun, play and games have evolved through time. Decades ago people, children most especially, were only fond of playing games such as catch or hide and seek. Decades after, arcades and consoles came to life to be followed by home entertainment systems like the Play Station for example. There too was the Gameboy, Xbox, Wii and just recently Kinect. And who could ever forget the famous and widespread mobile games? There are just so many of these in the market, both free and paid, that have been downloaded over and over again into different devices across the globe. There however lies a connotation that the emergence of the mobile game industry has led to disadvantages such as health issues and obesity. The thing is, parents should in the first place expose the child even as early as three years old to a balance and of actual physical play and technology driven ones. This is proven to provide the best learning and skill adaptation not only in children but in teens and adults alike. In fact, several studies have shown that people actually acquire certain values when playing with the said mobile games. Of course, one should also make ample research and assessment of different applications to ascertain that they are indeed good, safe and friendly to one’s age, taste and personality. TEAMWORK: Unlike the old mobile devices where only one player is allowed at a time, the emergence of touch screen gadgets have allowed not just one but even four players at a time and in some cases even more than that. Individuals can learn the value of teamwork especially when it comes to games that are played in pairs, trios or groups. Furthermore, there are applications which use either Bluetooth or the internet to interconnect and provide for interplay between users. PATIENCE: This is especially true for puzzle and strategy games where not only brain power is required but patience as well. When one is trying to figure out a certain pattern or working on finding the best fit or solution to create the right sequence to complete a task, patience is a value learned well. PERSISTENCE: As is with any gaming genre, persistence is always present and practiced. Trying to surpass a level, beat a high score or solve a task requires constant hard work, thinking, analyzing and the right coordination of movements.

OPTIMISM: Of course, optimism or positive thinking adds up to the list of values learned from playing mobile games. When one engages into the given task may it be out of boredom, the need to release stress or just for the joy of it, one almost always, if not all the time think, believe and hope that they can surpass or accomplish the task given.
