– Teaching files for each department/specialty
– Individual services for each clinical trial
File Service
Each authenticated user has a private file cabinet for storage of files of any kind
One public file cabinet for the site
Public file cabinet receives DICOM objects from PACS, modalities, workstations
– Separate anonymizer

Allows users to upload MIRC documents to a storage service
– Supports connections from client-side authoring tools
– Supports uploading documents via a browser– Accepts uploads in the format exported by
the XML Server

Author Service
Allows users to create MIRC documents directly on the Storage Service
Supports multiple templates to allow for the creation of different kinds of documents
Links to the File Service for inserting links to images and other documents
Templates
• Defines the look and feel of teaching file documents
• What sections can be in the document
• Makes it easier to author documents
• Can make new templates for different types of documents
Sections
• Used to organize documents
• Used to display specific information
• Image sections can only display images
Images
• Can load images into personal and shared file cabinets
• Can load images directly into documents using the DICOM storage service
Index Content Section
• Information that is used to index documents but is not displayed
• Used for none free text searches
Permissions
• read: view the document
• update: edit the document and save the changes in the Author Service
• export: download a copy of the document and its locally referenced objects (images, etc.) to the user's computer
• delete: remove the document from the MIRC site
Permissions
• If the list of roles includes an asterisk, all users are granted the privilege. This is probably not a good idea for most documents.
• If the list of roles is empty, only the owners have the privilege.
Permissions
• If the list of roles does not contain an asterisk and is not empty, only users matching the list in some way have the privilege.
• For compatibility with early versions of the MIRCdocument schema, documents that are missing the "update" element are not editable.
