UPPER ROOM APOSTOLIC CHURCH

FELLOWSHIP NEWSLETTER

A Moment In Time

Evangelist Monica Whitfield, URAC

Now bands of raiders from Aram had gone out and had taken cap-tive a young girl from Israel, and she served Naamans wife. She

said to her mistress, “If only my master would see the prophet who is in Samaria! He would cure him of his leprosy.”

2 Kings 5:2-3 (NIV)

The young slave girl who served as a servant to Naaman’s wife spoke up and changed the lives of many. She didn’t use eloquent words. She wasn’t a person of great reputation, nor was she trying to be. She simply saw a need and spoke to that need based on what she knew of the Prophet Elisha and the God of Israel. This young girl seized the moment and in that lives began to change. Scripture doesn’t mention her again as the sa-ga of Naaman being cured of leprosy plays out. A mo-ment in time, a brief second, truly can change everything. When Elisha the man of God heard that the king of Israel had torn

his robes, he sent him this message: “Why have you torn your robes? Have the man come to me and he will know that there is a prophet in Israel.” So Naaman went with his horses and chariots and stopped at the door of Elisha’s house. Elisha sent a messen-ger to say to him, “Go, wash yourself seven times in the Jordan,

and your flesh will be restored and you will be cleansed.”.” 2 Kings 5:8-10 (NIV)

As soon as the Prophet Elisha heard about the king tear-ing his robes, he knew what needed to be done. He was ready in that moment with an answer to the need that had been presented by Naaman. One moment really can change things for you, for the person next to you, for a generation of people behind you. One interesting point that must be made is that in conjunction with being ready to speak to a need, one must also be ready for a need to be answered. Naaman was not ready to receive the an-swer to the need he had because it didn’t come the way he wanted or anticipated that it would come. He could very well have missed a life changing moment because he was not willing to go wash in the Jordan river (v11). Are you ready for your moment? Your moment may not make you famous and your name may never be known among men. Are you ready for that moment in your life that will change everything?

A Purposed Generation: Godly Friends

Growing up, my Grandma Maybell used to tell us, “Birds of a feather flock together, and an

Eagle ain’t got no business flocking with vultures!” As a child, I didn’t quite get the wisdom in her

words; but today, I would love to go back in time and tell myself; “Girl, listen, these are life changing

words!” I Corinthians 15:33(MSG) admonishes us, “Bad company ruins good manners!” Proverbs

22:24(MSG) tells us, “Don’t hang out with angry people; don’t keep company with hotheads. Bad tem-

per is contagious-don’t get infected.”

The Word of God warns us against connecting or entering friendships with the wrong people.

The people who we connect ourselves to have a HUGE influence in our lives. As we spend time with

them; we learn or take on their ways, habits, and even ways of thinking! Think about it, one of the

reasons we develop friendships is because we have something in common. When we enter relation-

ships/friendships with people who walk contrary to God’s Word, we open a door to the enemy to ac-

cess our minds and hearts.

If you read the book of Daniel, you will see that he made sure to connect himself to likeminded

people who loved God as he did. Although a group of Israelite boys had been brought to be groomed

to stand in the King’s palace; the Bible references Daniel’s friendship with 3- Shadrach, Meshach, and

Abednego. Do those names sound familiar? They should! Just as Daniel stood for God in the face of

great persecution; so did they! Birds of a feather really do flock together!

So I admonish you as the Word and my grandma Maybelle; check out the people you have connected yourself with. Do they usher you closer to God-or are their ways leading you further away from Him? Remember, “ Birds of a feather flock together, and an Eagle ain’t got no business flocking with vultures!”

Prophetess Nichole Parks

Restoration of Life

Inc. Vision Statement:

Proverbs 29:18 ‘Where there is no vision, the people perish: but

he that keepeth the law, happy is he.’

The vision of the RESTORATION OF LIFE, Inc. is to go

forth restoring and evangelize the world for Jesus Christ by

bringing churches of like-minded Spirits together and also

to provide accountability, training and a covering for these

churches so that the redemptive work of Christ might be

more effective.

Apostle Milton L. Harper

Pastor on Call

If you desire prayer or need pastoral assistance please call the church office at (501) 955-5511. A pastor is available at the church Monday thru Friday, 9am-2pm.

Evangelist Janice Harper

One of the visions of the Upper Room is to build the M.A.C. Build-

ing in order to have the space needed to minister to lost souls

through various ministries and outreaches. We believe that one of

the best ways to ‘preach” Jesus is by serving our fellow man in

their time of natural and spiritual need.

We desire your prayers and financial support as we work in the

Lord’s vineyard to take the good news to those who are hurting,

bruised, and broken by the trials of life. We ask that as the Lord

leads those who are willing to sow a monetary seed in any amount to be used for the building of the

M.A.C. Building. Your one time or monthly gift in any amount will be greatly appreciated and is need-

ed to further the ministry work that the Lord has for us to do. We don’t have a promise of a miracle for

your obedience but we can promise that your seed will be used to further the kingdom of God.

To sow your seed, or to get more information regarding our vision for the M.A. C. Building, feel free to

contact our church business office at (501) 955-5511.

We continue to pray that God’s will be fulfilled in your lives and ministry.

In His Service,

Apostle Milton & 1st Lady Janice Harper
