Unusual Adaptations
Introduction
This power point tells you many animal adaptations. Some of them include sleek bodies, skin between their arms and legs, and even blowholes. All these adaptations are very interesting and helpful to the animals!
The Camel
This is a camel known as the ship of the desert. They live in Asia and Africa. They can hold up to five liters of water. They also produce very little sweat and urine. They also can last up to two weeks without water . The camel holds on to its water because there is very little rain.
The Dolphin
This is a dolphin. It lives in U.S.A in the west pacific . Dolphins are mammals just like humans . Dolphins use their blowhole to breathe when they come up for air . Dolphins have blowholes so they stick it above the water to get air so they don’t have to come up for air.
The Penguin
Penguins live in Africa, Australia, Antarctica, South America and Sub Antarctic islands. They have heavy bones to stay under water. Penguin’s feathers are camouflaged under water. Their wings help them to glide on the snow. They also use their wings to swim away from predators.
The mountain goat
This a mountain goat. Its hooves has a special structure to help it climb. Its special structure keeps it from falling when it climbs.
The arctic fox
This is an arctic fox. It uses camouflage. When it snows it uses camouflage so it can catch its prey easier.
The Shark
This is a shark. A shark has oil in its liver. There’s oil in its liver so it doesn’t sink.
The Seal This is a seal. They live in
the arctic. Its adaption is its stream lined body shape. It helps them move.
Giraffe
This is a giraffe. It lives in Africa. It has a long muscular neck and long flexible tongue. It can reach leaves.
Walrus
The walrus lives in the arctic. Its adaptation is it has a layer of fat around its body to keep it warm.
The Cheetah
This a cheetah. It lives in the grasslands. Its special adaptation is its long powerful legs. The cheetah’s long powerful legs help it run fast to capture its food.
Flying Squirrel
This is a flying squirrel. It lives in the trees. Its special adaptation is when it flaps its featherless skin between their front and back legs. The flying squirrel glides from tree to tree to get food.
The Duck-Billed Platypus
This is a platypus. It lives near the water. Its special adaptation is its webbed feet. It uses Its webbed feet to swim fast.
