History
• Founded on June 5, 1969 by Governor Preston Smith.
• University was established on 1970 but students attented class till 1975 due to the construction being done.
• Began with 5 colleges: Business, Fine and Applied Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences, Multidisciplinary Studies and Science and Mathematics.

Campuses
• Main Campus= 600 acres, at the intersection of Interstate 10 and Loop 1604 near the northern edge of San Antonio.
• Downtown Campus= holds the College of Public Policy and the College of Architecture.
• Hemisfar Park Campus= has the Institute of Texan Cultures museum.
Requirements
BACHELOR'S DEGREE Requirements
• Complete a minimum of 120 semester credit hours in which at least 39 need to be upper-division level
• Complete the University Core Curriculum • Complete the major and support work requirements and
the free elective requirements for the desired degree • All students must complete 6 semester credit hours of
American or Texas history. • All students must complete 6 semester credit hours of
government or political science, including the Constitution of the United States and constitutions of states, with special emphasis on Texas.
• Also achieve an overall 2.0 grade point average in all work attempted at UTSA and a 2.0 grade point average in all work included in the major.

Roadrunner Camp
• The roadrunner camp is a 2-day retreat designed for incoming freshmen.
• This camp helps incomers become familiar with the university.
• Also it helps create a better understanding of UTSA and of other students.
• Creates leadership and an social atmosphere.• It is held a week before the fall semester begins.

Expansion
• A new athletic $84 million complex called the “UTSA Park West” was suppose to be
added in March 2009.
• As well as a new engineering building that was expected to be completed in July
2009.
• Also a new parking garage also for
March 2009.
For the Future
• In 2030, UTSA has plans for expanding the main campus.
• This would include several other new academic and research buildings, sports complexes, and additional student housing.
• This is expected to cost $1.6 billion.
