In the Level 1 Pupil’s Book, no text appears on the page, as pupils become familiar

with the new language by hearing about the adventures of Sally and Jack and their

mouse friends Lisa and Ben, and then producing the vocabulary. They first experience

the words in their written form in the mini-dictionary at the end of the unit.

The vocabulary is presented visually and further contextualised within the scene. Pupils are then introduced to the sounds of the words through the chant.

In Level 1 the focus is on Listening and Speaking. These activities focus on Listening comprehension.

Teacher’s notes appear at the bottom of each page as an at-a-glance reference for teachers.

Pupils are then able to further practise the new words and structures through the song.

The attractive, modern illustrations are engaging for young pupils.

The follow up activities focus on the story comprehension. These activities also develop pupils fine motor skills.

The Can you say? Activity focuses on pronunciation of specific sounds. In this sticker activity pupils are encouraged to repeat individual words.

The Let’s revise activities allow pupils to remember all the language they have learnt in the unit.

A simple, catchy chant focuses on the sounds and words pupils have learnt.

The unit finishes with the Mini-dictionary where pupils stick the vocabulary stickers whilst listening to the chant.
