Page 2: Unit 6 The Biosphere

The biosphere is the largest ecosystem because it is made up of the Earth and all living thing inhabit in it.

Producers: Living things porduce their own food from sunlight,

water and mineral salts from the soil.

Consumers: Living thing eat other living things (animals). Primary consumer are animals eat plants (herbivores as

rabbit). Secondary consumer are animals eat herbivores animals

(owls, foxes).

Tertiary consumers are animals eat secondary consumers.

Predators are carnivorous animals hunt other animals for food.

Scavengers are carnivorous animals eat dead bodies of animals.

Parasites feed of living things without killing.

DECOMPOSERS Living things decompose remains of plants and animals minerals of living things. Food chains show species in ecosystem connected one another their food relationships. Food webs combination various food.

LOSS OF BIODIVERSITY Extincion occurs every single member of species dies

and none are left alive. Dinosaurs, flying reptiles and golden toad in Costa Rica. Extinct none have seen sice 1989.

Causes and effects -Climate change. -Pollution. -Capture animals. -Exploiting resources. -Releasing pets. -Alteration of habitats.

PROTECTING BIODIVERSITY Endangered species those wich are danger extinction

(Iberian lynx and Iberian imprerial eagle).

National parks and biosphere are created to protectwildlife and its environment. (Monfragüe and Doñana National Parks).
