Hi SimmyDid you see that show about polar bears on TV last night? It said global warming is putting the bears in danger!

Pronouns

1 Pronouns are very handy words that stand in place of nouns. They are small

of writing my best friend’s mum’s house, you can use a pronoun and write her

house. Find and circle six more pronouns in this text.

A sea turtle is a reptile. It lives in the sea, but breathes air. It is endangered.

So are polar bears. They need ice floes. They use them to get to food. But now

there is less ice. If ever we have kids, I want them to see real bears.

2 There are 12 personal pronouns.

Personal pronouns

I me he him she her it we us they them you

Personal pronouns have gender. They can be masculine, feminine, neuter or

common gender.

People are masculine or feminine: he or him for boys and men, and she or her

for girls or women.

Things and most animals are neuter: it. Pet animals are he or she.

We and they can be masculine or feminine. If they stand for a mixed group of

male and female people or animals, they are common gender.
