Reading 1 Meeting Your New Neighbors Read the article. Choose the correct answer. Are you new in the neighborhood? Are you afraid to talk to your neighbors but want to meet people? It's not really difficult, but you have to try! First, say "Hello" to people. People are usually happy to talk. Start with topics that are OK to talk about. For example, stores, parking, or restaurants are good topics to talk about the first time you meet a neighbor. Don't start with personal questions about money or health problems. And don't talk with your neighbors for too long the first time you meet them. Another great way to meet people in your neighborhood is to have a neighborhood party at your house or apartment. Weekends are a great time for parties. Buy a lot of food and drinks, and have a lot of party activities ready. Start the party early in the evening and finish early, too! You're sure to meet a lot of neighbors and make new friends. Finally, just spend time in your neighborhood. Places like banks aren't good places to meet people. Grocery stores aren't either. But, health clubs, dog parks, and coffee shops are great places to meet people. People make new friends every day in places like these — and you can, too! 42. What's this reading about? a. how to have a neighborhood party b. why neighbors don't talk c. how to meet your neighbors d. places to find friends 43. Which topic is not good for a first conversation with a neighbor? a. restaurants b. stores c. parking d. money 44. When is a great time for a neighborhood party? a. in the early evening on a weekday b. in the early evening on a Saturday c. on Sunday morning d. late Saturday night 45. Which place is not a great place to meet people? a. a health club b. a dog park c. a bank d. a coffee shop
