The mall of tomorrow is different.

By 2021, the idea of a mall as we know it is set to change. While e-commerce begins to dominate sales in most sectors, people will turn to a mall as a place to experience each product before they buy. Today, it is estimated that about 70% of all shopping trips begin online.

In 2021, it is very likely that most purchase decisions are made in an environment that focuses not just on the buying, but on the experiences that surround it.

What’s more, the experiences that people opt for in a mall will change more radically than we can imagine today. Smaller theatres with more diverse shows will become the norm rather than an exception. Today, a mini theatre in Bengaluru seats just eighteen people and streams content that they are all interested in. In the future, curated shows for small groups of audiences will be quite common. Malls will be open through the day, and night, providing entertainment opportunities suitable to every demographic.

And it will all happen with a focus on going local. Local food like the benne dosa will feature on popular menus in the city, and filter coffee will become a regional statement of this city’s dweller.

Your brand, at the centre of it all, will be poised and ready to provide just what the consumer wants- relaxed shopping amid a range of activities, all culminating to make their day out worthwhile.

The story of a gardenThe garden city of India is famous for its well-manicured lawns, its shaded canopies, its early-morning dew, and weather that no other Indian city can boast of. In our design thinking for Forum Falcon City, we wanted to bring all of these iconic natural elements indoors.

The central garden court is multi-layered and presents a view of greenery at all levels of the space. The adjacent food court is planned such that multiple seating configurations are available for people of different group sizes and preferences.

Interspersed throughout the mall are pop up food courts that remind one of south Bangalore’s famous food street.

With vast open spaces, a garden theme reminiscent of Bengaluru’s famous outdoors, a well-ventilated food court and multiple dining options as well as an auditorium, this is all set to be the most happening location in the city.

Bangalore’s iconic Khoday Brewery development is reshaping itself into a destination for shopping, food and fun. The centrepiece of this redevelopment is Forum Falcon City.
