1 uEye Camera Setup

1.1 Basic

A uEye configuration set for Win7 32/64 is installed

into the DI-Camera folder.

Use these base sets to adapt them for your PC

system where the DI-Pilot is installed to.

1.2 Set Camera IDs

After the software installation, the “uEye Camera

Manager” icon is on the desktop.

Both USB cameras are shown in the Camera ID list.

Select the Bottom Camera and set the Camera ID to

the value 2.

The camera ID setup should be like:

TOP Camera = ID 1

BOTTOM Camera = ID 2

1.3 Setup for i5, i7 Intel Dual Core PC

If your PC is running with i5, i7 Intel dual core

CPUS, then open in the IDS camera manager the

window “Additional functions”. Active here both CPU

idle states checkboxes.

For details see the document “Important setting for

uEye Camera.pdf”.

1.4 Frame Rate

Each computer has its own image bandwidth. The

bandwidth depends on the USB bus and the

position of the hub, where the cameras are

connected to, in the USB system.

An optimum frame rate is around 5 to 10 fps (frames

per second). Use the “Pixel clock” and “Frame rate”

slider to set the value.

Before changing the values, load the preinstalled

camera sets through the menu entry “Load

parameters” “from file….” .

Select the camera profile from the list, folder “..\DI-

Pilot\DI-Camera\parameter”.

Note:

If the pixel clock and frame rate is too high, the

“Camera peak bandwidth” value gets red and the

transfer indicator reports “Failed”.

When the FPS parameter is set, you need to open

cameras setups at the same time.

To do so, double click in the “IDS Camera Manager”

on the camera. This opens a uEyeCockpit window.

Place both camera next to each other and observe

the message “Transfer” in the lower right corner.

2 Configure the DI-Camera Software

2.1 DI-Camera Access

DI-Camera starts up with the DI-Pilot. Access the

GUI through the icon in program tray area (1).

Parameter name Function

(1) Selected Camera Choose 1 for the Top Camera, 2 for the Bottom Camera

(2) Camera Parameter Select the camera setup from the folder \di-camera\parameter.

For the TOP camera, select :

_:\Program Files\DI\DI-Pilot\DI-Camera\parameter\CamTop-32 or 64.ini

For the BOTTOM camera, select :

_:\Program Files\DI\DI-Pilot\DI-Camera\parameter\ CamTop-32 or 64.ini

where 32 refers to Win7 32Bit and 64 to Win7 64Bit

(3) Output Path DI-Camera creates every 250ms a new image from the control stip.

The output path for this images are set equally to the Image Directory path in DI-

Pilot:

3.1 Create an Individual Camera Configuration File

Open the uEyeCockpit program from the uEye

Camera Manager with a double click in the camera

list.

Set the Checkbox “Start uEye Cockpit in expert

mode” and select the “Monochrome” profile.

In uEye Cockpit change to trigger mode.

Load the existing camera profile with the menu entry

“Load parameters” “from file….” .

Select the camera profile from the list, folder “..\DI-

Pilot\DI-Camera\parameter”.

Double click the “setup icon from the tool bar.

Settings in the Tab “Camera”:

Activate “Exposure time Auto”

Find an optimum pixel clock value (as lower as

better), see chapter “1.4 Frame Rate”

Set the frame rate to approx. 5 to 10 fps

Activate “Auto”

Activate “Gain boost”

Disable Gamma

Activate the checkbox “Edge enhancement” and

choose the factor value 7.

Use the default setting in the Tab “Streaming”.

Check with the vertical LineView tool the black and

with level of the image.

The diagram should show levels likes shown in the

picture.

Use the magnify tool to check the quality of the dots

from the printed code.

Dots should look like shown on the right.

With “CTRL + ALT” + “right mouse click“ choose the

area to magnify.

Go the menu

“File” “Save parameter” “to File”.

Save the configuration into the DI-Camera

parameter folder.

Now the parameter is selectable in DI-Camera, see

chapter 2.2 .
