Ever since its inception in 1959, IIT Madras has been at the fore-front of innovation and is currently leading the technological sphere, having been ranked 1st in the NIRF rankings by MHRD, GOI for the 4 th consecutive time. With the rising entrepreneurial trends across the globe, there has been an expansion of the entrepreneurial ecosystem in India as well. In many ways, this is reflective of the larger trend that we are seeing here at IIT-Madras. Students are continuously engaged in trying to push their ideas beyond their labs, hostels and workspac-es.

With centers such as CFI, programs such as Nirmaan and organi-zations such as the IITM Incubation Cell working at full swing, there is little surprise, therefore, to see IIT Madras dominating the university campus entrepreneurial space asis evident by the fact that 4 of the 5 finalists in the recent campus entrepreneurship competition conduct-ed by ET, were from IITM.

VISION

Entrepreneurship is not about launching companies but rather about being entrepreneurial in every walk of life, from the way we sleep and roll over to the way we work; i.e. tackling problems with the right attitude and well equipped.

“In a world full of constants be a variable; a harbinger of change.”

- by Rahul Garg and Abhishek J. TiggaLead Organisers of UC’19

With that very vision, Entrepreneurship Cell, IIT Madras, a non-profit student-run organization has strived for, ever since its inception, instilling and fostering the entrepreneurial spirit to give rise to changemakers and future leaders. Having initialized as a body that catered only to the students of IITM, we have since evolved and expanded to a pan India level and dedicate ourselves to tailoring a plethora of events like disquisitions, colloquiums, Hackathons, Workshops, B-Plan competitions, etc. to serve the en-trepreneurial needs of our audience. Here at E-Cell we’re engaged in creating a world that’s worth living in. One that addresses our needs entirely, and eliminates ev-erything extraneous.

E-CLUB

A club in IITM where students embark on their entrepreneurial journey. We provide E-Club members mentoring right from idea validation stage.

Entrepreneurship prepares students for long-term work achieve-ment.. Owing to their formative mindset, students by nature are quick to adapt and equip new skills. In order to create changemak-ers and leaders, we aim to foster change at the grassroots level in the hopes to bring around disruption for the better good.

In an effort to provide continuous inspiration and motivation to the student community at IITM to imbibe the entrepreneurial spirit, a group of focussed individuals is formed to receive updates and deliberate about the Startup Ecosystem.

Case Overview

A recent study has found that the entire arctic ice cap will disappear by 2040.

More than 1 million species expected to become extinct due to climate change.

Nearly 40% of our population is predicted to face water crisis.

Climate change induced natural disasters have caused 600,000 deaths over the last 20 years.

Such headlines have become a common sight nowadays.

In attempt to advocate change towards a future that’s both sustainable and worth passing on, we shift our focus to yet another petulance, the rising problem that is called Pollution. For years we have prided our-selves in the kind of advanced species that we are, that we are indeed at the top of the food chain, and perhaps for this very reason, have taken Earth and the myriad of resources that it offers, for granted. We do keep saying that we have inherited Earth from our fore-(fathers and mothers), and they from theirs, which begs the question, in what kind of state are we gonna pass it on? Will it still be worth living in? Will it still be lush green or charcoal black? Who will be to blame for the state it will be in if we don’t mend our ways and come up with a plan to bring it back to its former glory?

Despite all the scientific evidence, humans are turning a deaf ear to all the warnings. With the present state of denial that humanity is living in, we are fast approaching the point of no return. The onus is on us, the youth of today and citizens of tomorrow, to take the initiative to do our part in saving our planet before it’s too late.Join us, in the 6th edition of Unconference to address the problem child of us humans, pollution, and iterate on the maybe not the best but a good solution to this global crisis, by breaking it down into 3 sectors, that we recognise as the chief areas of focus, as follows:

This damage is because of excessive use of fossil fuels which are not only non-renewable but also cause a lot of CO2 emissions. The biggest chal-lenge for mankind now is to find an alternative source of energy which is sustainable. Most of the present sources of green energy have not taken off because they are commer-cially unviable on a large scale. To achieve this massive shift towards green energy ,apart from coming up with scientific innovations, we should market the ideas so that they reach the masses. In short the world needs an army of green entrepreneurs to

bring about a change.

First people used to use logs to move things around; then came the invention of stone wheel, and then the cycles. As, with time, civilisation and technology pro-gressed, transportation became an integral part of our lives.Technology surely advanced, but at what cost? Will we destroy this world using smoke-spitting boxes with wheels? It is a problem that needs to be addressed. This is the age of ideas, the age of startups; the age where the youth is motivated to innovate. It's the right time in history to make an impact, bring a difference.Long after Newton came Einstein. The man who shook the world with his ideas and rev-olutionised the power of imagination. The time has come again where the world needs people with revolutionary ideas. Do you want to make cars greener? Air clean-er? This is your chance to change the lives of millions and at the same time yours.

“Over 1 million seabirds and 100,000 sea mammals killed by pollution annually”

“Climate change induces natural disasters causing over 600,000 deaths in the last

20 years.”

In the present day scenario, everyone is focussed on increasing the production, quality and standard of living and in the process forgets to manage the waste properly, which comes back to look at us with a disastrous expression in the name of climate shift, global warming, green-house-effect, and so on and so forth.

“If you ask the fish whether they’d rather have an oil spill or a season of fishing, I wouldn’t be surprised if they’d vote for

another blowout.”

— Carl Safina

WasteManagement

Pollution is one of the biggest global killers, affecting over 100 million people. That’s comparable to global diseases like malaria and HIV.In 1975, the National Academy of Sci-ences estimated that ocean-based sources, such as cargo ships and cruise liners had dumped 14 billion pounds of garbage into the ocean.

The problem is real and so are its consequences. It exists in the first place because of us humans and our various deeds, and hence it rightly and duly falls on us to work for its remedy.

So will you not join hands with us in this global initiative to make a

change? Are you not a citizen of this planet? Or are you not smart

enough? The choice is yours. You have the resources, and what you lack we

provide. The question is, “Are you willing to take that step?”

What's a painting with a vivid idea but obscure flaying of the paints across the canvas. We may call it modern art but we all know what it really is. Simi-larly, when it comes to presenting a case report, an excellent study fails to scratch the wall in the deficit of a well-designed presentation that catches the viewers’ attention and renders their ears to listen to only your tune. Come, find out how to do just so, at this master class.

Words, when fashioned smartly, have the power to influence people but at the same time also the power to make one sleep. Amongst thousands of data, what is truly important to deliver? In what manner to present it and how to go about it? Should you be crouched or stoic? Maybe neither or maybe sometimes both? Such are the questions that are addressed in this final master class.

More than often, a good case report doesn't comprise a myriad of hard boiled numbers but instead numbers that matter. Analyzing data that exists in bulk is a hefty task and sometimes excess of it might very well prove to be futile. In order to tackle this problem in the early stage of your grey cel-ling, to know what and how to scourge data and properly assess and con-vert it into concise, to the point, cipherable form, we provide to you a video lecture compiled by one our experts.

To provide to our participants an educative and formulative experience, as they carve their way to a sustainable solution, we make avail to their dispos-al Master classes to provide in-depth knowledge of the essentials required to make an effective case report.

Workshops have been split into a series of specially tailored webinars and on-ground workshops, organized to provide the optimum support to you in building a sustainable, strategic case report.
