The Reserve Officers’ Training Corps is an intense leadership training program where future leaders come to grow. More than half of the general officers in the active Army got their start through ROTC.

At the University of Arkansas – Fort Smith, ROTC prepares you to become a commissioned officer and pursue a rewarding career, all while working toward a college degree.

Through UAFS ROTC, you could become a leader within an elite group – people who believe in serving community and country, people who see themselves as leaders, people who are up to the challenges of this intensive training regimen.

Greater Responsibilities, Greater Rewards

Join an elite TeamTRAdITIONAL ROTC. Take one elective class and one lab per semester. Between your sophomore and junior year, if you have no prior military experience, you will take the Leader’s Training Course – a four-week program of classroom and field training. After completing your junior year, you will attend the Leader Development and Assessment Course, a five-week program that will test you against other cadets from across the country. Upon completion of your degree, you will receive a commission in the U.S. Army.

SMP CAdeT. The Simultaneous Membership Program allows you to serve in the National Guard or Army Reserve while taking ROTC. The experience you gain in the reserve forces will qualify you to bypass the LTC and prepare you to take the LDAC.

• Students selected for active duty receive a starting salary in excess of $45,000 along with housing and medical benefits. Students selected for reserve components receive more than $4,900 per year for drills and annual training while pursuing a civilian career.
