What Can I Do Lecture: Rebuilding Hope @7pm; MPRRebuilding Hope is a lecture/film program about South Sudan. It chronicles the homecoming of Gabriel Bol Deng, Garang Mauol and Koor Garang back to South Sudan after spending years as lost boys. All three were forced to flee their homes twenty years ago as young children, when militiamen led violent attacks on their villages. They crossed South Sudan on foot, surviving disease and paralyzing hunger to reach safety in a refugee camp in Ethiopia before coming to the US in 2001.

With the help of accompanied filmmaker Jen Marlowe and journalist David Morse "Rebuilding Hope" shows the return of these "lost boys" and their efforts to develop health care, clean water, and education in their villages along with exploring the connections between the conflict in South Sudan to conflicts in other parts of Sudan, including Darfur, probing the larger questions of identity and ethnicity in Sudan..

Naomi asserts that it is national "shocks" such as Hurricane Katrina or the fall of the Twin Towers that encourage our government to exploit the citizens of America and beyond. She speaks to all facets of our economic system and points to its key issues. She believes that our government has taken it upon itself to pull money from the public and invest it in private domains and conversely takes private debt and issues it into the hands of the unknowing tax payers. She deconstructs the Bush administration and even goes so far to state that the administration does not believe in Free Market Capitalism and instead it has invented a so-called "No-Risk Capitalism" for the upper classes. In her provocative speech, Naomi will address the key components of her best-selling book and answer a number of challenging questions about today's society and the direction that our world is heading.

In high school John Kevin Hines loved performing in plays and playing sports. Being around people and being active were things that came easily to him. That changed when he was diagnosed with bipolar disorder at age 17. He struggled to find a treatment. In 2000, during his freshman year of college, Kevin attempted to take his own life. He jumped off of the Golden Gate Bridge and luckily he is one of 29 people to have survived that jump. Kevin has since learned to deal with mental illness in a healthy way, and through speaking out, he is providing a positive example to hundreds of thousands of young people dealing with all types of mental health issues. His story is one of amazing strength and compassion, and his presentation discusses bipolar disorder, depression, suicide and survival. Kevin's devotion to living every single day grounded to the things he loves comes though loud and clear; he is truly an inspiration.

Energetic cave explorers can begin this exciting expedition with the 165-foot rope rappel, followed by one to two hours of exploration through deep chambers and passages. Most areas are undeveloped, so there are no lights, stairs, or walkways. Instead, visitors daringly explore by climbing and belly crawling with lighted helmets to show the way. This trip is offered all year by reservation, and is conducted by experienced, highly trained guides. No experience is necessary. Gloves, hard-hat with light, coveralls from size 36 adult, rappelling gear, transportation and lunch are provided. Participants must be at least 12 years old, and minors must be accompanied by an adult. For an additional fee there is also an epic zip-line that you can take a ride on. Does HIV Look Like Me? @7pm; CooperageChristina Rock has struggled with being HIV positive since birth. The stigma of HIV affects all who are infected and perhaps the saddest part of Christina's story is she had no choice in the matter. Growing up with HIV shaped Christina's social interactions within the classroom as well as outside of it. In the dating world, Christina talks about how hard it is to live with HIV and offers advice on the right time to inform potential boyfriends and girlfriends about being HIV positive. Christina focuses on the American HIV epidemic within her lecture in an attempt to show that the problem is still very real in the non third world. With HIV on the rise, Christina's personal experience sheds light on exactly what it is like to live with a disease that currently has no cure.
