    OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY

    The main purpose of research study is to discover the answers

    to the questions through the application of scientific procedure. The main aim of

    the research is to find out the truth which is hidden and which has not been

    discovered yet. So, each research study has its own specific purposes or

    objectives. The objectives of this research study are as under,

    To identify T.V. watching habit among boys and girls.

    To know how many hours they spend to watch the T.V.

    To identify the response towards advertisement.

    To identify why they watch T.V.

    INTRODUCTION OF THE RESEARCH

    Research can be defined as a systematic and objective process of

    gathering, recording and analyzing data to guide business decision making.

    Research is mainly used to reduce the uncertainty of decision. Any of the

    research is having various area like in an organization and business research.

    Organization research includes marketing, finance, human resource and

    manufacturing. While business research includes main three types those are

    Market research, Operation research and Motivational research.

    Research is used to solve the various operational and planning

    problems which arises in a business organization. This may includes problems

    related to marketing, finance, human resource, manufacturing etc.

    Research is always start with a questions to which we seek an

    answer using scientific methods. Undertaking research is basically applying the

    scientific methods to find out solution to a problem. It is a systematic and

    explorative study carried out to analyze and apply various solution to the

    defined problems.

    Research is often described as an active, diligent and systematic

    process of inquiry aimed at discovering, interpreting and revising the facts.

    Research can be classified into two categories which are as

    follows,

    Basic Research :-

    As the name itself refers that basic research is of basic nature

    which is not carried out in response to a problem. It is more educative towards

    undertaking the fundamentals and aim at expanding the knowledge base of an

    individual.

    Applied Research :-

    On the other hand, applied research is carried out to seek

    alternate solution for a problem at held. Applied research is done to solve

    specific practical questions. Applied research refers the investigation undertaken

    to discover the application and use of theories, knowledge and principles in

    actual works or in problem solving.

    But the main objective of research is to provide accurate &

    relevant and timely information to the top management so that they can take

    effective decisions.

    RESEARCH METHODOLOGY

    Research methodology is a way to systematically solve the

    research program. It may be understood as a science of studying now research

    is done scientifically methodology being the heart of any study must fetch extra

    attention keeping their facts in mind special care has been taken to use and

    appropriate methodology suitable for this kinds of project.

    Any type of research can be done and it has a specific

    framework of methods forgetting the information related to research problem.

    The plan for research work is the most important steps to enter into a real

    situation or problem of the company. For doing research, we have to design the

    research work and go through step by step.

    Research means not to search out which is already searched but

    it is any systematic objective oriented and organized inquiry undertaken to

    provide information for sound and timey decision. It is an honest, impartial and

    open study conducted by the person or group of persons with experience and

    scientific methods.

    Research design :-

    It is helpful to classify marketing research project and basis of

    the fundamental objective of the research consideration of different types. Theirapplicapability, their strength and their weakness will help the student to select

    the best types of research. The main types of research design are as follows,

    Exploratory Research

    Descriptive Research

    Hypothesis Testing Research

    Exploratory research is on discovery of new ideas. Marketing

    researcher devotes a significant portion of their work on exploratory studies

    when very little is know about the problem being examine the idea is to clarify.

    It concern in three different methods such as survey of concerning literature,

    experience survey and analysis of insight stimulating.

    While descriptive research study concern with specific prediction,

    narration of facts and concerning individual group of situation. This is designed

    to help the executive choose among various possible course of action that is to

    make decision.

    While the hypothesis research studies are those where the

    researcher test the hypothesis of casual relationship between the variables.

    Our project report on T.V. watching habit among boys and girlsis mostly based on survey of boys and girls therefore the research study is

    Exploratory one. So, The nature and research design of my study is Descriptive

    one. Because the exploratory study is normally concerned with finding out

    general nature to problems and different variable that are related to the

    problems. The major emphasis of exploratory research is on the discovery of

    ideas and insights. The primary advantages of exploratory research study is low

    cost and less time requirement.

    Types of Data :-

    Good decision requires good data just as researcher must

    carefully evaluate the quality of secondary information. Whenever we think about

    marketing data source, so that there are main two types of data source are

    available.

    Primary Data :-

    We have got primary data for my research purpose. We have

    collected primary data through questionnaire method from the boys and girls. So,

    we have contacted 150 persons individually and collected all primary data

    through questionnaire from boys and girls in Vadodara city.

    Secondary Data :-

    Secondary data are those which have been already collected by

    someone in the past for the research purpose. They are readily available in the

    company records, salesmens periodic reports, sales reports, sales orders, etc.

    So, we have used the primary data because primary data

    provides current & absolutely correct information.

    We have collected necessary information from many sources

    which are as follows,

    Data collected through Questionnaire :-

    We have collected necessary data through questionnaire method

    in which number of questions are list out in the form of objective types. So

    that we met 150 boys and girls to fulfill the questionnaire for the research study.

    These all questions are not complicated but in easy nature and not more time

    consuming.

    Data collection instrument (method) :-

    Data collection method like Questionnaire Method, and Personal interview

    for primary data Method. Here, we have used survey (Questionnaire) and

    personal interview method for our research study. So, we have prepared

    Standard set of questions to obtain the required information for the

    research purpose. In questionnaire, we have prepared set of questions and

    we have obtained the boys and girls views regarding TV watching habit.

    Sampling plan :-

    Sampling refers to obtain to a sample from a given population. If

    it refers to the technique or procedure, the researcher would adopting selecting

    items for the sample. A sample design is to determine before data are collected.

    Researcher must prepare a sample design which should be reliable and

    appropriate for his research study.

    Target Population - boys and girls of Vadodara city

    Sampling Method - Simple random sampling

    Sample Size - 150 Samples

    Buffer sample size - 10 samples

    Research Instrument - Personal Interview with Questionnaires

    * SCOPE OF THE STUDY

    This study will help to find out the preference of boys and

    girls regarding Television watching habit in baroda City

    so that it will help us to understand boys and girls mindset

    towards the advertisement, different programs, news

    channel or other channel.

    * LIMITATION OF STUDY

    The major limitations of this study according to me are as

    follows:

    Due to time and cost factor only 150 people have been

    surveyed. we have tried our level best to select the

    representative sample in order to give the exact picture of our

    topic. Our own inexperience in research area might have

    affected the study.

    While there are 92 % of the girls are like to watch T.V. and 8% boys are

    From out of 80 boys, there is 70% boys watch the

    Movies and news and 15% watch Movies, news and

    comedy serial and 10% boys watch Movies, News,

    reality shows and 5% boys watch other Programs.

    While from out of 80 girls, there is 80% gilrs watch the

    Movies and Family serials and 15% watch Movies, newsand comedy serial and 2.33% girls watch Movies, News,

    reality shows and 2.67% girls watch other Programs.

    From out of 80 boys, there 55% boys like Zoo Zoo, Air

    Tel, 15% boys like Zoo Zoo, Air Tel, Mintos and 35%

    likes other advertisement.

    While out of 80 girls, there 65% girls like Zoo Zoo, Air

    Tel, 5% boys like Zoo Zoo, Air Tel, Mintos and 30% likes

    other advertisement.

    There is significance difference in T.V. watching habit among boys and

    girls.

    There is difference in spending hours pattern among boys and girls for

    watching the T.V.

    Most of boys and girls like Zoo Zoos advertisement.

    Most of the boys and girls watch T.V. for entertainment or time pass.

    Be more conscious towards the quality of the questions.

    Provide proper guidance to the answerer.

    Increase the no. questions of question.

    Use statistical tools for data analysis like Hypothesis,

    Anovas etc.
