the first generation to grow up after the arrival and rapid dissemination of digital technology from the last decades of the 20th century (Prensky 2001:1)

used to the twitch-speed, multitasking, random-access, graphics-first, active, connected, fun, quick-payoff world of their video games, mtv, and internet (Prensky 2001:5)
