TURKISH CARGOIS READY FORITS NEW HOMEIstanbul Airport, opened on October 29th, 2018, will turn Turkey into a global center of logistics with a 6 million tons of cargo capacity when all the phases completed.

Providing service to 124 countries globally with the title of the fastest growing air cargo brand of the world, Turkish Cargo will carry its quality to Istanbul Airport, and maintain its operations at both Istanbul Airport and Ataturk Airport as of March 2, 2019.

Following such date, the transportations, to be performed by utilizing the cargo capacity of the airliners, will be operated from Istanbul Airport. On the other hand; Turkish Cargo will continue to operate its transportations, to be performed by means of its own freighters, fromAtaturk Airport.

Upon unveil of first phase of construction atIstanbul Airport, our cargo terminal will have2 million tons operational capacity per year and by completion of all phases the terminal capacity will be doubled up to 4 million tons per year.

While the Mega Hub is being constructed, our cargo operations will be handled from a temporary satellite facility which will have all of the required capability in terms of ensuring the high quality in operations.

All of our cargo services will continue to be operated from both airports during the gradual transition period and our customers will be able to smoothly send and receive cargos from both airports during this process.

Throughout this process, cargo transfer between passenger and cargo aircrafts will be carried out safely and quickly with easy transfer, with dedicated (RFS) truck service, between the two airports.

It will be possible to track shipments carried between airports owing to GPS tracking devices applied to all trucks by RFS service Provider Company.

Furthermore, in order to maintain cold chain and provide shortest applicable connection times the temperature-controlled and certified trucks will operate between two airports in line with national regulations and international standards.

Throughout the phase based transition term, Istanbul Ataturk Airport will continue to serve under the IST code. After the transition completed, Istanbul Airport will acquire the IST code and the code of Istanbul Ataturk Airport will become ISL.

TURKISH CARGOMEGA HUB

The Mega Hub, which has an area of165.000 m², will be one of the biggest and most modern cargo facility in the world.

With the completion of second phase construction, we will have a capacity to

handle 4 million tons of cargo per year from 2023 onwards.

Our modular design facility will enable fast and simple expansion to increase capacity

in line with our growth strategy.

Istanbul Airport will lead to faster cargo aircraft operation owing to 25 cargo aircraft parking space in front of our cargo terminal. In addition, with the help of distinct distribution base constructed near our passenger aircraft parking positions, short connected transfer shipments will be managed more effectively.

Tunnels built within tarmac will allow us to transport cargo without intersection of the tarmac or runways traffic.

Cargo and document acceptance processes will be minimized by applying diversified product group procedures and latest acceptance time (option) will be shortened to give flexibility to our customers.

Automatic storage systems will be used in the warehouse to play a big role in achieving our operational objectives by limiting the impact human can make to our warehouse operations, all the while increasing speed, efficiencyand quality.

In order to optimize the business processes by integrating with the automated systems in the new plant, we have carried out information system developments and optimization studies. This ensures that cargo will be delivered to the right point in the warehouse with the least movement in the quickest and most efficient way possible.

At the new facility our operation will address the needs of the market and maximize customer satisfaction by ensuring that all special cargo processes, from acceptance to delivery, in special cargo storage areas (perishable, pharmaceuticals, valuable cargo, live animal transportation, express, e-commerce cargo) will be carried out with service quality beyond expectation.

MEGA HUBAUTOMATION SYSTEMS

Our other automated system, the ASRS (Automated Storage and Retrieval System) will be used to automatically store smaller cargo pallets that make up the content of ULDs and to retrieve them automatically to the desired location. ASRS, which has 30 cranes to form 3 large blocks has a total capacity of 18,000 pallets.

These systems are able to optimize themselves through artificial intelligence, minimizing the need for intervention from staff. These investments target full automation of the cargo transport and storage processes rather than carry out them through manual labor asapplied currently.

This will lead to reduce the effect of human factor to all operation.

The cargo acceptance area will be connected with 3 x-ray ASRS. This allows accepted cargo to be stored without any human presence.

These investments will allow much of our operations to be automated, with lower traffic inside storage area and more efficient operating mechanisms.

Two different systems will be used to automate the movements. One of these is PCHS (Pallet Control Handling System). It will be used for the automatic storage and transfer of ULDs to designated area those moving to/from Ramp for loading or unloaded to/from aircraft.

There will be 2,000 ULD positionsavailable on PCHS. System will allow200 of these to be automatically storedin refrigerated rooms. Owing to this system, entire storage process will be directed froma single point and the tarmac transportationoperation will be minimized.

ULDs can be accepted from 11 differentpoints. There are 10 ETVs(Elevated Transfer Vehicles) included in thesystem, 12 TVs (Transfer Vehicles) and11 elevators, which allow for the horizontaland vertical movements of the pallets in thesystem to work.
