Transforming India 2030: A Roadmap for Sustainable Development Goals

Sustainable development is new phenomenon to meet the requirements of people and their overall

growth. In last few To achieve "2030Agenda" UNDP has set 17 goals which are broad and interdependent.

decades India witnessed a economic growth which is also reflected in rise in standard of living of people but

it is also noticed that this growth in only confined to a small proportion of the population and a large section

of society is still lacking their basic needs of living. Thus, is clear that in India the economic growth is

unequally distributed amongst the population which results in unequal sustainable development of peoples.

The governments along with other non-government organizations have put some serious efforts for

upliftment of such sections of society. UNDP has set 17 goals for the world for all over sustainable

development, but in India there are certain areas which need more attention for overall sustainable

development.

Today, to achieve the SDGs, countries focus mainly education, health, energy systems, land-use,

urban development, and many other dimensions. Each transformation requires long term changes involving

large numbers of stakeholders from government, business, and civil society. Since such complex

transformations cannot be implemented by markets alone, governments must take the lead in mobilizing

stakeholders, planning for the transformations, designing supporting policy processes and mobilizing the

public funding.

The aim of this seminar is to explore and discuss such areas and provide a platform where views and

thoughts of academicians and professionals on sustainable development can be discussed thoroughly. The

outcome of this seminar will be very useful for policy makers to understand the priority goals to be focused

for sustainable development in India by 2030.

The Sun City, Jodhpur was founded by Rao Jodha, a chief of the Rathore clan, in 1459. It was previously known as Marwar. It is the second largest city in Rajasthan. It is called Sun City because of its bright and sunny weather throughout the year. Even the days in winter are sunny. It is also called Blue City because most of the houses here are painted blue. Blue is a cool/calm color. As the sun is bright here all the year, so the houses needs to be cooled down. And, blue color keeps houses cool.
