IMPORTANTWith a view to bring about greater reliability, validity and objectivity inthe examination system and also for closer integration of teaching,learning and evaluation.

In order to ensure that the students do not leave out the importantportion of the syllabus, examiners shall be free to repeat thequestions set in the previous examinations.

[Ref. Resolution No. 21 (c) of Academic Council dated 9-2-84]

The examinees be permitted to use their personal transistorised pocketbattery operated calculators in the examinations. The calculator to beused by the candidates in the examinations should not have more than12 digits, 6 functions and 2 memories and should be noiseless andcordless. A calculator belonging to one candidate shall not be allowedto be used by another candidate. The Superintendent of the centre willhave complete discretion to disallow the use of a calculator which doesnot confirm to the above specification.

In Engineering and any other examinations where the use of calculatorsis already permitted, it shall remain undisturbed.

NOTIFICATIONIn compliance of decision of the Hon'ble High Court allstudents are required to fulfill 75% attendance rule in eachsubject and there must be 75% attendance of the studentbefore he/she could be permitted to appear in theexamination.

MASTER OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATIONGeneral Information for Students

The Jai Narain Vyas University (erstwhile University of Jodhpur) hasbeen offering the M.B.A. Course since 1968 under the aegis of theDepartment of Commerce until 1989-90 when a separate Department ofManagement Studies was created and the responsibility of M.B.A. Coursewas entrusted to it. The M.B.A. Programme has, therefore, completed 45years of its existence. The course has been recognised by All IndiaCouncil for Technical Education and brings together group of youngpersons with mind and motivation needed to occupy managerial positionsin the economic enterprises.The course was founded by late Professor D.N. Elhance, the thenHead, Department of Commerce who was doyen of managementeducation in the Universities of India.

1. A candidate admitted to Master of Business Administrationexamination may be admitted to the examinations after completing theregular course of studies prescribed for the examination which shall be oftwo years duration comprising of four semesters.2. There shall be separate course of studies for each semester and thereshall be separate examination for each semester. The course of studies andexamination in relation there to shall comprise of theory papers, seminars,viva-voce, term-papers and class-assignments as indicated in the coursedesign. These will bear maximum marks as indicated in Course design.

If a candidate fails to appear at an examination he or she shall not bepermitted to take the subsequent examination and therefore, shall have toreappear at the examination. Thus such candidate shall not be promoted tothe next semester if he/she has not appeared at one of more of the papers inthe concerned semester examination.6. However, a candidate, may be promoted to the next semester if he/shefails in only one paper in the examination of the semester. Such candidatesmay be permitted to makeup the deficiency at subsequent but regular andscheduled examination only. Subsequent examination will be treated asmain examination. There shall be no makeup or special examination formaking up such deficiency. Also a candidate appearing at andexamination to make up the deficiency shall have to appear at such anexamination based on the course of studies in force at the time, unless thepaper itself no longer forms that part of the course of studies. In sucheventuality the course of study soon before the deletion shall be deemed tobe relevant. However, the Department shall have no responsibility toorganise and impart teaching in the paper in which the candidate has gotdeficiency. Those candidates who appeared at the subsequentexamination for clearing deficiency and passed shall be awarded theactual marks obtained but in no case it will be more than 60% of themaximum marks in the concerned paper, irrespective of the marks securedby them at the subsequent examination."A candidate who fail at an examination and reappears as an ex-studentwill not be required to submit term paper, class assignment and appear atthe seminar examination and marks obtained at the previous examinationwill be transferred.""In the same way if a candidate fails at MBA-IV and appears as anex-student he will not be required to do Summer Internship ReportExamination and Project Report in case he has got pass marks and marksobtained at the previous examination will be transferred."7. After the fourth semester examination the result will be declared andM.B.A. Degree will be awarded when a candidate passes all theexaminations in respect of all the four semesters including those paper (s)for which deficiency, if any, is to be made up.8. The Division shall be awarded to a candidate on the basis of marks ofall the examinations in respect of all the semesters as mentioned above onthe following basis :Division Percent of MarksFirst with Honour's 70 and aboveFirst 60 and above but less than 70Second 50 and above but less than 60
