Presentation

The aim of configuration wizard is to have a Network Element fully configured within a few steps.

This configuration wizard is almost common to TCO suite and Quick Configuration via CT-K

The screen copies will be the one of TCO suite, PreProvisionning Tool (PPT).

Configuration Wizard

Step 1 : NE Type

NE name as it will appear on mapNE location as it will appear on map

Letting these fields empty some applications do not work properly

Protection Type

User Interface Type

Optional Audio – ESC Plug-in

(N/A in R2.1) Audio Party Line can not be set up through configuration wizard

Step 1 (continued) : Aggregate structure

Capacity of aggregate signal

Modulation scheme of ODU

Capacity 2 E1 4 E1 8 E1 16 E1 32 E1 Modulation Choice 4 QAM only 4 / 16 QAM 4 / 16 QAM 4 / 16 QAM 16 QAM only

Modulation agility is neither available for 2 E1 (4 QAM only) nor for 32 E1 (16 QAM only) due to spectrum width used in these radios.

Capacity and modulation choices are available depending on the Licence Key located inside the flash card. Limitations in combo boxes do not apply in the wizard.

Note for 16 E1 – Data NE :

capacity is the one of the aggregate signal. 32 E1 capacity may be used for a full Ethernet traffic.

In this last case, only the first 16 E1 are manageable (no physical presence of other E1 on front pannel)

Step 2 : User line interface, PDH

One shot buttons

Combo box to set up E1 port modeTributary impedance

(75 or 120 ohms) Greyed because not settable, depending on NE type and capacity

Step 2 (continued) : User line interface, Data

Speed to be set upEnable / Disable Ethernet port

This tab will appear only in 16 E1 – Data configuration

Bug : Autonegociation should be set at the end of commissionning, it is equivalent to a command and not to a configuration parameter

Step 2 (continued and finish) : User line interface, Data FCS

This tab will appear only in 16 E1 – Data configuration

Discard errored frames depends highly on the customer applications.

Step 3 : RT parameters configuration

Pushing the Frequency Data Help will display informations related to ODUs

ATPC parameters should be set at the end of commissionning

Step 4 : Link Identifier

Link Identifier is coming back !

In case of Link Identifier Mismatch alarm, signal is sent anyway (Melodie behavior was to generate an AIS)

Bug : If Expected Identifier is equal to Sent Identifier, no alarm is raised.

Step 5 : Restoration criteria

This configuration is recommanded, except in case of Data transmission NE

Configuration Wizard

Step 6 : OSPF Areas configuration

Add the relevant OSPF area(s). Generally, only one is declared other than ospf 0.

Bug : If you are modifying a file, add an ospf area instead of removing / add

Step 7 : Local configuration

Default configuration on Eth/OS is 10.0.1.2 / 255.0.0.0. This has to be reminded when the operator sends a first configuration using Eth/OS interface (communication between PC and Equipement will be lost if this is modified).

Bug : Put the same address for NTP Spare Server even if there is only one server.

Step 10 : I/O

"Bug" : Java behavior : for a field to be taken into account, the operator has to fill in the information and to click somewhere else in the page.

"Bug" : It is not so obvious, but polarity can be set up (active opened / active closed)
