- Finger Wipe

- Dental Bib

- Whitening Tray

- 3mL Syringe of Carbamide Peroxide gel

v 17%, 22%, 36% or 44%- Vitamin E swab

IMPORTANT NOTES

- NEVER put anything in the customer’s mouth- Never use the same syringe on more than one customer- Never perform on pregnant or lactating women- Do not use more gel in the mouth tray than we recommend- The treatment will only whiten NATURAL teeth (not veneers, caps, etc.)- Do not use if customer has poor gums or enamel or other problems with his/her

teeth- Have customers sign a disclaimer before beginning with the treatment

Steps for in-office Traditional Kit Service Step 1: Pre-Treatment

After your customer has read and signed the waiver, make sure the customer is seated comfortably and lean the chair back so that the customer’s head is tilted back slightly. If the head is too vertical, the customer’s saliva might drip from the mouth during the treatment and dilute the gel.

- Place the dental bib on the customer’s chest to protect against spilled liquids. We recommend that you use a bib-holder to secure the bib under the customer’s neck.

- Give the customer their finger teeth wipe (inside the kit) to clean the surface of their teeth. Their smile is the most important part, but they can clean all of their teeth if they like. The whitening gel is more effective on clean teeth. - The swab provided in the kit contains Vitamin E and aloe vera. It can either be used to moisturize and protect the gums DURING the teeth whitening treatment or to rehydrate the gums and lips AFTER the treatment. - When using our Traditional Kit, it is a good idea to use the swab before the treatment, leaving some liquid for after the treatment. - Hand the customer a Vitamin E swab (included in the kit) so he/she can rub it on the gums and lips. This liquid moisturizes and helps protect the customer’s gums during teeth whitening treatments. To use the vitamin E swab follow these easy steps:

1. Hold swab vertically. Make sure that the end of the swab with the RED line is

higher than the end with no red line.

2. Snap the head of swab at the red line. Air will enter the tube and gravity will

push down the liquid into the lower end of the swab.

3. Keep the tip with the red line up until all or most of the liquid has flowed into

the lower end of the swab.

4. Rub the end containing the liquid on the lips or gums (wherever it is most needed).

5. Set the swab aside for use when the whitening treatment is finished.

Step 2. Applying the Whitening Gel

When applying the gel into the tray, make sure not to use too much gel. Doing so may

cause the gel to squeeze onto the gums and can cause irritation. The syringe comes with 3

mL of gel, but you should use only 1 mL for a single session.

On the top and bottom of the tray, you should use 0.5 ml of gel. Since the syringe has 3mL this means that you can perform 2 or even 3 treatments with a single syringe.

- Hold the mouth tray by the sides. Place the tip of the syringe on the center of the upper inside wall of the tray. Squeeze a line of whitening gel from the center to the right until you reach the end of the tray, making it thinner as you move towards the end of the tray (see Image 1 below).

- Repeat the process but making your line to the left (see Image 2 below).

- Now spread the gel evenly over the inside wall of the tray, from top to bottom of the

inside wall (see Image 3 below). Repeat the process on the bottom part of the tray.

After applying the gel to the tray, recap the syringe. If the customer does not want a double treatment, discard the syringe with the remaining gel. If you might or will be performing a double-treatment, set aside the syringe with the remaining gel. You should not use the same syringe on more than one person.

Step 3. Customer Inserts the Mouth Tray

DO NOT place the tray or anything in the customer’s mouth.

- After applying the gel to the tray, hand the tray to the customer. The customer should take the tray from you, and place it in his/her mouth. Make sure that the mouth tray sits against the teeth.

- Ask the customer to gently press the front of the tray against the teeth to ensure that the gel makes good contact with the teeth so that it reaches the top and in between their teeth. - Before setting the timer on the lamp, give the customer a pair of protective goggles and make sure that they wear them during the entire procedure. Step 4. Set the Timer on the Futura 2400 LED Lamp The recommended time for a single treatment is 15-20 minutes. The Futura 2400 is programmed to have these times pre-set (see instruction manual if needed).

- Once the tray is in the customer’s mouth, select the pre-set time you would like to use.

Step 5. Placing the LED Light

- Place the head of the lamp as close as possible to the customer’s mouth without the lamp actually touching the customer. The light must shine directly on the teeth in order to activate the gel.

- Ask the customer to relax their lips on the outside of the tray. Our platform trays are designed to keep your customers' lips apart.

IMPORTANT: Warn the customer that during the process some of the gel might squeeze onto the gums and that this might produce a tingling or even stinging sensation. Tell them that this is normal and very tolerable.

- Once your customer is comfortable and has their lips parted and relaxed, place the light close, but not touching their mouth. When they are ready, press the start button.

- We recommend that you check up on the customer every few minutes to ensure that he/she is maintaining the mouth open enough and to make sure that the light is still shining directly on the teeth (the customer could have moved).

Step 6. Double or Triple Treatment Follow this step only if you are going to do a DOUBLE or TRIPLE TREATMENT. Otherwise continue to Step 7 below.

You should recommend to your customers that they get a double treatment because the results are more dramatic. With better results, your customers will be more inclined to refer their friends. We suggest that you charge $99 for a single treatment and $149 for a double treatment. Note that our kits allow you to perform double treatments as our syringes contain enough gel for 3 treatments. We recommend that you give customers a 2-minute break before proceeding with the second treatment in a row.

- Before the timer stops, you should prepare for your customer to rinse out their mouth. Fill a cup with water, and supply a waste basket or empty cup for them to rinse and spit.

- The lamp will stop automatically once the timer has counted down to zero. Once it stops, ask the customer to give you his/her tray so you can set it aside.

- Hand them the cup with water and assist them in rinsing out their mouths.

- After the customer has finished rinsing, provide a mirror so that he/she can see his/her teeth and appreciate the amount of whitening that has already taken place.

- At this time, you should rinse and reapply gel to the tray following the instructions in Step 3 above.

- When you have applied the gel to the tray for the final treatment you will be performing on the customer, discard the syringe even if there is any remaining gel in it.

- Follow the instructions above from Steps 2 to 6 again until the final treatment is finished. At that point, go to Step 7 below.

IMPORTANT NOTE: The customer’s gums might have turned white in some spots. This is called “blanching”, it occurs in many people, and it is completely normal. Tell the customer that it is normal and that the gums will return back to normal in less than 15 minutes.

Step 7. End of Session- Before the timer stops, you should refill their cup of water for your customer to rinse out their mouth. Supply a waste basket or empty cup for them to rinse and spit.

- The lamp will stop automatically once the timer has counted down to zero. Once it stops, ask the customer to give you his/her tray so you can set it aside for them to take home.

- Hand them the cup with water and assist them in rinsing out their mouths.

- The Vitamin E swab can be applied on the white spots as vitamin E helps moisturize the gums. Wrap the tray in the dental bib and put it inside the box the kit came in, so the customer can take it home.

Step 8. After-treatment CareIMPORTANT: Make sure you tell your customers NOT to eat or drink anything except pure water for at least one hour and preferably two hours after the treatment. They should also avoid coffee, tea, colas, red wine, grape juice or other dark liquids or sauces for at least 24 hours and preferably 48 hours.

After they have rinsed out the gel, offer an after care item for them to take home. This can increase your profits and allow your customer to continue whitening at home.

FAQs about Teeth Whitening

Q. Who should NOT undergo teeth whitening? A. Any of the following:

- Pregnant or lactating women

- People with poor enamel or decalcification caused by excessive use of fluorides.

- People with periodontal disease including gingivitis or gums in poor condition

- People who wear braces or who had their braces removed less than 6 months ago

- People who recently had oral surgery

- People with decaying teeth or exposed roots

- People with open cavities

- People with a history of allergic reactions to peroxide products

- People with silver fillings in, near or behind the front teeth

- People under the age of 14

Q. Can all teeth be whitened?

A. No. When the inner structure of the tooth becomes darker or yellowed, the stain is more difficult to remove or, depending on its cause, may not be able to be removed at all. Here are some examples:

- Tetracycline (an antibiotic) causes intrinsic (meaning that it affects the inner structure of the tooth) staining, when used by children under age 8 or women in the last half of their pregnancy. These stains cannot be removed by bleaching.

- Fluorosis, a cosmetic dental condition that results from overexposure to fluoride during tooth development, also is not always successfully removed by bleaching. Mild to moderate fluorosis, characterized by lines, streaks or spots, can be made less obvious by using whitening products or methods. However, in more severe cases of fluorosis, bleaching will not work.

- A third type of stain is called "age-related." It's a combination of intrinsic and extrinsic factors. As we age, the dentin (the inner portion of the tooth) gets slightly yellow. This can become visible through the outer enamel as it gradually becomes thinner over time.

Page 8: Traditional Kit Instructions New2016 · 2020. 6. 22. · BEAMING WHITE LLC 1205 NE 95th Street, Ste. A, Vancouver, WA 98665 Tel. (866) 944-8315 Fax (360) 283-5812 Traditional Kit

Yellow stains are the easiest to remove with bleaching. Gray or black stains tend to be more difficult. Generally, stains that are newly formed are easier to remove than older stains.

- Artificial dental work such as crowns, bonding, caps, veneers, bridges or composite fillings will also NOT respond to bleaching. Teeth whitening gel will only whiten natural, live teeth. Artificial teeth will not be whitened, but they won't be damaged by the peroxide.

Q. Does teeth whitening cause sensitivity?

A. Tooth sensitivity is extremely rare when using our gels. Mild tissue (gum) irritation may occur during the whitening process. The discomfort typically subsides shortly after finishing the treatment.

Q. How often can a person whiten his/her teeth?

A. We recommend that you offer your customers a double or triple treatment the first time they get their teeth whitened. After that, we recommend that they get a touch-up treatment every 2-6 moths.

Q. How long do results last?

A. The length of time the results last depends on a person’s consumption of staining beverages and foods. For example coffee, tea, red wine, colas and other darkening agents such as tobacco, can cause a relapse. It also depends on the customer's quality of enamel. Those who have porous enamel will be more vulnerable to staining beverages and food. Generally one can say between six months and one year.

Q. What is the difference between the hydrogen and Carbamide Peroxide gel? Which is the better choice?

A. There is a 3 to 1 relationship between Carbamide and hydrogen. This means that 16% hydrogen peroxide is equivalent (in theory) to around 44% Carbamide peroxide. Some people prefer Carbamide because it is softer on the gums. However, in practice we have found that hydrogen peroxide works much faster than Carbamide.

Q. How do I store the teeth whitening kits?

A. The gel in this kit should be kept at room temperature. It will not hurt it to be refrigerated. Do NOT freeze the gel. The shelf-life is one year when properly stored.
