Major tom is the story of how an average 34 year old became a beauty queen and how her unruly pet basset hound, Major Tom, became a championship show dog. Major Tom and Victoria increasingly immerse themselves in the obsessive and confusing realm of personal scrutiny as they participate as genuine contestants, determined to win. Victoria, accompanied on stage by documentary film footage and her dog, tells this true story. *Nominated* Total Theatre Awards 2013. // Produced by Farnham MaltingsMon 12 May | 7:30pm | Adv: £12 [10] // OTD: £13 [11] | 16+ | 65min

Running On Empty

To Disguised MusicEnhanced Dance

The story of a man, a woman and their encounters over time, travelling through dreams, fears and jagged memories. Dance, text and song combine in this intrepid new work from the Brighton-based dance theatre company Probe.Probe artistic director Antonia Grove brings together an impressive team of creative collaborators including: Jo McInnes (director), Brad Birch (writer), Charlie Morrissey (choreographer) and Scott Smith (composer). // “The kind of work that new British dance does best” The Observer (on May.)

Nothing is normal here. Or rather: everything is extraordinary! Dance as you’ve never seen it before. A piano as you’ve never heard it before. A performance that defies physical constraints. Created by the Brussels-based Swiss choreographer Thomas Hauert, this is his first piece for younger audiences, guaranteed to unleash the imagination.

It’s approximately 3500 years since Charlton Heston carried the original Ten Commandments down from the mount... Since then, things have changed. Drastically. Market Researcher Simon Wilkinson and his intern Liyuwerk have been commissioned to run focus groups to come up with ten new commandments more suitable to the times in which we live. 10 members of the public will hear real life morality stories and debate their response in this deeply satirical piece.

Dancers become choreographers as members of Hofesh Shechter Company present their own works in the third edition of the Company’s acclaimed dance programme. Six gifted artists provide a showcase for new ideas and new inspirations tailored to their own outstanding performing talent.Wed 14 May | 7:30pm | £12.50 [Festival Standby: £10]2hr10 inc. interval | + Post-performance discussion, FREE

Rising star Zara McFarlane has been making a big impact on the UK jazz scene since the release of her debut album, Until Tomorrow, in 2011. Midnight’s Bazaar

Traumatised by his best friend’s murder, Duwayne Brooks was treated as a potential criminal instead of a witness. He faced years of torment by those who should have been on his side. Harassed by police on trumped up charges and hounded incessantly over the years, Duwayne faced the impossible struggle of challenging what life appeared to have in store. // For Blonde Poison, 2013: What’s On Stage.

Once again we step back to a decadent and exotic time; let your imagination run. With a live bhangra band, bellydancers, fire performers, and of course, Brighton’s finest burlesque acts, as well as henna artists, fortune tellers, and much more, this year’s fundraiser is going to be more brilliant and magical than ever. // All proceeds go to Linkylea Trust.
