Tio won his first ever race outside Cyprus when hetravelled to Italy to take part in the World ROK Cup.
Although Tio raced karts in Cyprus for 10 years, he onlycompeted in 131 races which is a lot less than British or otherEuropean karters would do in that time.
However, his winning percentage of 77% is impressive as ishis tally of 9 titles including one world title.

Grand Prix Shootout was held between July and December of 2009.Competitors were assessed in Fiat Abarth cars at BruntingthorpeProving Ground by Rob Wilson. 10 Finalists were invited to Pembreyto test a Double R Formula BMW. Tio was the runaway winner fromthe moment Rob first got into the Abarth with him at Bruntingthorpe.50 other drivers took part including champions in the last two years inthe following categories:

Tio raced in the 2010 MSA Formula FordChampionship of Great Britain with the front runningJTR team.
It was his first season of car racing and he had just40 laps in a Formula BMW at Pembrey Circuit underhis belt at that point.
Tio only got 4 full tests done before the first race atOulton Park. All 4 tests were in poor weatherconditions and were red-flaged for much of the time.

Tio was 60 seconds away from being the first driversince Ayrton Senna in 1981 to get a British FormulaFord pole position on his car racing debut.
Tio was fastest in the official Friday test in wetconditions and in qualifying was in pole position untiltitle favourite and eventual winner, Scott Pye, pippedhim on the last lap.
As it was, Tio was only the second driver since AyrtonSenna to start on the front row of a British FormulaFord race on his car racing debut.

Tios fourth position in the MSA British Formula Fordchampionship is the best placing for a novice driversince Jenson Button in 1998.

Tio had at least a pole, win, podium, fastest lap orfastest "ideal" lap at every circuit he went to.
The only driver to have a "perfect" weekend with pole,lights to flag victory and fastest lap in both races andthe lap record.
Everyone who was ahead of him in the championshipis a current or previous Formula Ford champion.
Tio was fastest at every wet test during the year.
He is the first driver to lap Castle Combe at over100mph in a Formula Ford.
A drive from the pitlane in Round 2 (his second race)to challenge for 6th with fastest lap. He overtook 11cars and moved from a distant 27th to 7th at the end.
Tio never drove on the Brands Hatch GP circuitbefore race day where he qualified 4th at 2:00PM andthen came third in the race at 5:00PM with a lap timejust 0.003s off the fastest lap.
With 3 poles, winning his quarter and semi final racesand finishing 3rd in the Final with fastest lap, Tio had
the best performance at the Formula Ford Festivalsince Jenson Button in 1998.

Formula Ford Festival 2010
The Formula Ford Festival is an end of yearevent open to Formula Ford drivers from allover the world. Very often, drivers comeback to the Festival despite graduating tohigher formulae to have another go atwinning this very prestigious event. Theweekend consists of testing, qualifying,heats, quarter finals, semi finals and a final.
2009 Formula 1 World Champion JensonButon and Red Bull Racings Mark Webberhave both won the Festival while names thatdidnt triumph include Damon Hill, NigelMansell, Mika Hakkinen and KimiRaikkonen. Ayrton Senna refused tocompete to avoid being judged in one race!
Such is the experience and talent at theFormula Ford Festival that drivers rarelymake an impression in their first year of carracing. Two drivers have won it in theirdebut year: Jenson Button and JohnnyHerbert both successful F1 drivers. Of the 8novice drivers to finish on the podium in thelast 25 years, 7 made it to F1 including 2World Champions!
Tio is the first novice driverEVER to getpole position, fastest lap and a podium finishin the Festival Final. He is the first driver
regardless of experience to achieve that inat least 14 years. Tios 2010 Festivalperformance was easily the best sinceJenson Button in 1998.

During the summer brake of the Formula Renault 2.0 UK
Championship Tio visited Germany to participate in the Formula
Renault 2.0 NEC against Europe's most highly rated drivers
including the Red Bull junior drivers Carlos Sainz Jr and Daniil
Kvyat. It was Tio's first time at the track and he just had two 30
minute practice sessions before qualifying.

Tio has achieved a lot in a relatively shortcareer. Despite racing karts for 10 years hehas only competed in 131 karts raceswinning 101 of them plus 8 national and oneworld title.
He came to the UK in September 2009 totake on 50 other karters and drivers withover 100 major racing titles between themand was the runaway winner of Grand PrixShootout.
Tio was 60 seconds away from being the
first driver since Ayrton Senna 30 seasonspreviously to take a British Formula Fordpole in their debut car race.
In 2010, he was the highest placed novicein British Formula Ford since Jenson Buttonin 1998.
Everyone ahead of Tio in the championshiphas won a Formula Ford title in the last 12months.
