Healthy bodies

Being active and eating

healthy food play a big

part in getting healthy and

staying healthy.

Everyone – not just kids –

should be active every

day, in as many ways as

possible. Not being active

can cause an energy im-

balance – that’s when you

take in more energy than

you actually use. It can

have a big effect on your

health and how

you feel.

What an exciting time everyone had at our disco last Friday night. It was greatly supported with many students attending. It is always surprising how the quiet anticipation of ‘what’s coming’ soon turns into laughter, singing and a noise level to rival the MCG on grand final day! The music selection was terrific – the kids still love dancing to old favourites such as Nutbush. School Captain’s Report

Prep: In prep we have been learning about the letter y this week.

We discovered that the letter y can make different sounds during our spelling

inquiry. Our CAFÉ reading strategy this week was identifying the author’s

purpose. We have begun exploring free verse poetry in writing and in Maths we have enjoyed using the

balance scales.

1/2: We have been measuring area in maths. Our spelling inquiry was verbs in present and past. Our

strategy for CAFÉ reading has been identifying the author’s purpose.

3/4: In reading we’ve been working on adjusting our reading rates to suit the purpose of our reading.

Our poetry anthologies are coming along really well. We finished up our number pattern maths groups

and worked on estimation. In I.S we’ve looked at colonisation.

5/6: This week in 5/6 we worked on finding the main idea in CAFÉ. In writing we kept working on poetry

and learned about idions. In maths we finished our angles groups topic. We loved doing earn and learn

and all made lots of money at our businesses.

Hats are Back from Friday September 1st For many years most state schools followed a simple but effective rule; that the wearing of school hats in terms 1 and 4 was compulsory and in terms 2 and 3 it was not. The Cancer Council of Victoria changed their policy a little while back and now remind schools that to be considered a SunSmart school, as we are at Launching Place, hats must be worn at all times whilst outdoors at school between September and April.

This means for the final three weeks of this term, hats will need to be worn at school by all children. The good news is our uniform shop always has a large number of hats available in all sizes.

This week’s

Star students
