This term KM have been learning about different types of digital technologies. Mrs Taylor has been teaching us about digital technology and she has been showing us how to use it. We are learning about the terms hardware and software. We have explored old technologies such as typewriters and big video cameras. We have explored new technologies such as Dash the Interactive Robot and playing games using the Makey Makey circuits on the laptops or Minecraft on the Ipads. We have so much fun and look forward to our lesson with Mrs Taylor each week.
Welcome to week 10.Thank you to all students and families for supporting the improved attendance this term, the children enjoyed the jumping castles on Friday with 165 students attending the reward for below three days away in Term 2. Also thank you to our special guests, Aunty Nora Caldwell, Zoe Williams, Troy Freeburn, our School Captains, Mr Noel York and the many visitors who attended our Naidoc Celebrations yesterday. It was wonderful to see so many community and family here supporting the Naidoc – Voice, Treaty, Truth. A big thank you Aunty Gwen, Solid Mob, Jambamma Art Shed, Life Church and all the staff in helping with this successful day. The Kindergarten students did a fabulous song ‘jingee walla’ and a big thank you to the Casino High School Dance Troupe. It was also great to see St Mary’s Primary School on the day with 28 students attending. On Thursday and Friday this week two more pieces of play equipment from Aspace will be installed in the playground. The Student Council have selected the rock wall and flow cross maze making 8 pieces of equipment now installed. The students love playing on the equipment and the grounds are really looking good. Pizza Party is tomorrow for students who have reached Gold Level Award. Enjoy!
I would also like to thank everyone for their support this term, I have very much enjoyed being relieving principal at Casino West Public School. The dedicated teachers and support staff, lovely students and their families has made my time here rewarding. We all welcome Michael Taylor back next term after his restful holiday. Students will return on Tuesday 23 July 2019. Staff return on Monday 22 July for a Staff Development Day. Have a wonderful break and enjoy your holiday with family and friends.Mrs Lesley Mills, Relieving School Principal.

Our value this week is POWER.Power comes from the Latin word potere, which means “to be able”. The true definition of power is our ability to make our own choices.
• Power means standing strong. Confidence in yourself gives you power.
• Power also means the ability to act or have influence over others.
We can all use our power in a good or positive way by making good choices at school and at home, and helping others to make good choices.
• We can use our power to respectfully stand up to for what we believe in.
• We can use our power by standing up to people who are being unkind or mean to others by reporting it to a teacher.
We can choose to misuse our power by bullying or being unkind and hurtful to people.
• How are you using your power?
We all have the power within ourselves to be the change we want to see.Ms George SpeckAssistant Principal Instructional Leader
Our PBL focus this week is the Playground. It is to play safely, responsibly and fairly in the playground.Students are to become self regulated in open playsafe and to play games fairly.Mrs Tami Chadderton, Assistant Principal Stage 3.
