Moses: Faith That UnderstandsExodus 4:2-5

Moses, for forty years, lived on the backside of nowhere tending to his father-in-law’s sheep. We have no record of God speaking to Moses during this season of his life. Then, one ordinary day, God breaks His silence and Moses’ life changed

forever. This morning, we conclude our study on ‘Faith Lessons For Today’ by looking at an encounter between God and Moses. We will see how the question God asked

Moses is a question God asks each of us.

I. What did God call Moses to do? “Therefore, come now, and I will send you to Pharaoh, so that you may bring My people, the sons of Israel, out of Egypt.” Exodus 3:10

II. Why was Moses so reluctant?

1. What if he doesn’t ___________________________________? Exodus 3:13

2. What if he doesn’t ___________________________________? Exodus 4:1

3. What if he doesn’t ___________________________________? Exodus 4:10

4. What if he is not as __________________________________? Exodus 4:13

III. What object lesson did God give Moses? “The LORD said to him, ‘What is that in your hand?’ And he said, ‘A staff.’ Then He said, ‘Throw it on the ground.’ So he threw it on the ground, and it became a serpent; and Moses fled from it.” Exodus 4:2-3

1. Moses’ staff represented his ______________________________.

2. Moses’ staff represented his ______________________________.

3. Moses’ staff represented his ______________________________.

IV. What is God going to put in your hand? “Trust in the LORD with all your heart And do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He will make your paths straight.” Proverbs 3:5-6
