THIRD SUNDAY OF ADVENT

“What do you want for Christmas?” This is a question we ask each other often before Christmas. Yet how many of us actually take a few minutes to kneel before the altar and ask Him what He wants from us this Christmas. When we kneel and ask Jesus what He wants from us, it is very possible that we will hear Him whisper that He wants us to share a little more of our time with Him. Maybe each of us could include in our list to spend more time with God.

• Participate in Mass more frequently to the level of our comfort in person or online.

• Find some time for prayer each morning.

• End our day with spiritual reading.

• Say the rosary while we drive to work or with our family.

• Participate in Eucharistic Adoration. • Stop into church occasionally for a quiet visit. • Set up an appointment for Reconciliation.

The gift of time with God could be the very best gift we could give ourselves in this most unusual year. It’s quite possible that maybe, just maybe this is what our hearts are truly longing for to bring us peace.

TERCERO DOMINGO DE ADVIENTO

"¿Qué quieres para Navidad?" Esta es una pregunta que nos hacemos a menudo antes de Navidad. Sin embargo, ¿cuántos de nosotros realmente nos tomamos unos minutos para arrodillarnos ante el altar y preguntar a dios qué quiere de nosotros esta Navidad? Second Reading │ A reading from St. Paul’s first letter to the Thessalonians (5:16-24)

Gospel │ A reading from the holy Gospel according to John (1: 6-8, 19-28)

A man named John was sent from God. He came for testimony, to testify to the light, so that all might believe through him. He was not the light, but came to testify to the light. And this is the testimony of John. When the Jews from Jerusalem sent priests and Levites to him to ask him, “Who are you?” He admitted and did not deny it, but admitted, “I am not the Christ.” So they asked him, “What are you then? Are you Elijah?” And he said, “I am not.” “Are you the Prophet?” He answered, “No.” So they said to him, “Who are you, so we can give an answer to those who sent us? What do you have to say for yourself?” He said: “I am the voice of one crying out in the desert, ‘make straight the way of the Lord,’” as Isaiah the prophet said.” Some Pharisees were also sent. They asked him, “Why then do you baptize if you are not the Christ or Elijah or the Prophet?” John answered them, “I baptize with water; but there is one among you whom you do not recognize, the one who is coming after me, whose sandal strap I am not worthy to untie.” This happened in Bethany across the Jordan, where John was baptizing. I believe in one God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all things visible and invisible. I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Only Begotten Son of God, born of the Father before all ages. God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father; through him all things were made. For us men and for our salvation he came down from heaven, (bow) and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary, and became man. to retire, and we appreciate their long and dedicated service. The former St. Henry Social Justice committee has also served monthly meals at the shelter. Since combining the parishes, the St. Francis Social Justice committee would like to continue the service St. Mary's has done. So together, St Francis would be in charge of 2 days a month for meals.
