June 18—July 23 “A Man named Martin” with Brian & Jessica Niksch (Church Hall) A Man Named Martin: 500 years ago, an unknown monk from a backwater town in Germany, set in motion a movement that would literally transform Western civilization. The impact Martin Luther had on the growth and development of Christianity is enormous. But how did this unknown miner's son change the world? Over the course of 4 weeks we will examine the life and times of this religious reformer. From his humble beginnings in Germany to his indefatigable work to understand Scripture and share the truths of the Bible, Martin Luther inspired a Reformation that reverberates throughout Christendom to this day. Please join us for this video and discussion series starting June 18th.

Stephen Ministers Care
When was the last time someone really listened to
you? We’re talking about that undistracted, full-
attention kind of listening. That’s one of the ways
Stephen Ministers care for other.
We need more Stephen Ministers to care for those who are making
that long journey through the valley of a life crisis. Will you
consider serving in this way? For more information, please contact
one of the Pastors, Diana Iltzsche, Susan Havens, or Allison
Schmitt.
Reaching Out to CLC’s Thrivent Members
Reaching Out to CLC's Thrivent Members
As you have probably heard, CLC will be acquiring a used pipe organ for our worship space.
If you are a Thrivent member and own a Thrivent product, you have "Choice Dollars" that you may direct to any charities on
the approved list-Christ Lutheran Church is one of those approved charities. The group of people that are looking into the raising of funds for the pipe organ are requesting Thrivent members to direct their Choice Dollars to Christ Lutheran Church during 2017 so that these Choice Dollar would be used for the pipe organ should the congregation approve this special project. Would you consider directing your Choice Dollars to CLC and the pipe organ acquisition? Please consider doing this. If you have never done this (many Thrivent members do not designate their Choice Dollars) and would like assistance, please contact a fellow Thrivent member for assistance (e.g., [email protected]; 462-2793).
Message about Blood Donations St. Anthony hospital is formally in blood rationing mode, Porter has no official word yet. This means that there is shortage of O negative blood. Therefore, to keep enough on hand for O neg women of child baring age or the serious trauma in which there is not time to do a cross match, men and older women will be given O positive blood. At the time of transfusion, there is no risk to the man or older woman because they are screened for antibodies. The risk is that they may become sensitized and in the future and that might limit options for units. The risk is not zero but not high...1-4% per unit according to some estimates. So....if you have a spare pint and you didn't have a chance to give last Monday at CLC the Red Cross will be at the YMCA in Valpo next Wednesday noon-6pm and at St. Paul Lutheran, Chesterton, 1-6pm
Did you know the Indiana Dunes, one of the most diverse habitats in the world, is the birthplace of ecological science in North America? Shifting Sands: On the Path to Sustainability is a regionally produced documentary on the Indiana shoreline, directed by Pat Wisniewski. The film will be shown this Tuesday, June 20, at 7PM at the IMAX Theater in Portage.

Christ Lutheran Church welcomes Valparaiso University College of Nursing and Health Professions senior nursing students for their Public Health Nursing clinical experience. Under the facilitation of Clinical Assistant Professor Cheryl Slack, the nursing students will be learning how to care for a community of people, rather than one patient at a time.
The nursing students have been present during the month of June in church related activities. Their focus is based on the Parish Nurse, Juli Verkler, health surveys. They will present improving on cardiac health and safety/fall prevention on Thursday, June 29 at 6:00 p.m. before service begins.
