Something dawned on me today. I have an unusual talent — highly artistic in its own quirky way. You see, this morning, while single-handedly walking our two little dogs on twin 27-foot retractable leashes with a bag of poop swinging from my arm, I noticed two things: a car was coming and the dogs had crossed back and forth enough to snarl those retractable leashes completely. With just seconds to reign in the hounds (whose most recent amusement is the occasional, and hence totally unpredictable, lunge at moving cars) I flew into action. Juggling blue and red handles with awe-inspiring ease, I swiftly untangled those leashes — but to get us all to one side of the street together required one hell of a pirouette, during which that entire bag of poop flew gracefully over my head, not releasing so much as a pellet. Now, I’m not sure a performance like this is quite up to Cirque de Soleil standards — although it certainly qualifies as street entertainment, but it was a feat of derring-doo if there ever was one! Not that the dogs cared. Their thing is chasing cars.

The Town of Canton Senior/Social Services Department is coordinating a collection for the victims of the devastating house fire that occurred October 20 on Gildersleeve Ave. in Canton. Any gift card donations are appreciated to help with food, clothing and furnishings. Three adults have been displaced by this disaster, two being the homeowner and his girlfriend and the other a tenant who had been living there for almost a year. Please direct donations of gift cards to the Senior/Social Services department during office hours (Mon, Tues, Wed, Fri 9am-5pm; Thurs 9am-7pm) located at 40 Dyer Avenue.
