The Integration of Curriculum, Instruction, Assessment and
Technology
Introduction and Agenda
• Introduction: To familiarize the staff with the Texas long-range technology plan and assess where our campus is currently and where we want to go.
• Agenda: – Discuss STaR Chart data– Go over strengths of our campus– Go over weaknesses– Create an action plan– Conclusion/Parking Lot/Q & A
The Technology TEKs and You… (Something to Think About!!!)
A Texas Sized ChallengeThe traditional model of schooling with the teacherchoosing what is to be learned and then serving asthe source of knowledge as the student acts as thereceiver of that knowledge is not adequate for 21st
Century, world-class education.
We must also prepare teachers for significantly different roles, different students, different tools and resources, and different methods of instructing students beyond the face-
to-face classroom.

What is the Campus STaR chart?• A tool designed for use in planning, budgeting for resources, and
evaluation of progress in local technology projects.
• A profile of our campus’ status toward reaching the goals of the Long Range Plan for Technology (LRPT) and No Child Left Behind.
• It has been developed around four key areas of the LRPT, 2006-2020: – Teaching and Learning– Educator Preparation and Development– Leadership, Administration and Instructional Support– Infrastructure for Technology.
What Questions does it Address?
• 1) What are O.A. Peterson’s and Northwest ISD’s current educational technology profiles?
• 2) What evidence can be provided to demonstrate progress in meeting the goals of the Long Range Plan for Technology?
• 3) What areas should our campus focus on to improve the level of technology integration that ensures the best teaching and learning?
How Can It Be Used?
To create and/or update the campus technology plan.
To help conceptualize our campus vision of technology use.
To set goals by using the chart to identify current education technology profiles, establish goals, and monitor progress.
To measure student/teacher proficiencies with regard to the integration of technology into all content areas.
What is the Teacher STaR Chart?
• The Teacher STaR Chart establishes a clear framework for measuring how well teachers are prepared to equip students with the knowledge and skills they need to succeed using technology resources.

Strengths (What We Do Really Well!!!)
• Campus Strengths– Excellent infrastructure and utilization by students– Campus leaders provide support– Administration believes technology will help students be more
engaged, articulate thoughts more productively, and give product choice
– Excellent linkages between instruction, curriculum, and assessment
Areas for Improvement (What We Have the Capacity to do Really Well!!!)
• Campus Areas for Improvement– Budgetary concerns (How to Do More with Less)– Need more distributive leadership– Provisions for additional professional development and training
What’s Next??
• In conclusion – the area we will focus our attention as part of our Campus Improvement Plan is: “Staff Preparation and Development”
• We will:– Create actionable initiatives to drive success– Have walkthroughs that focus on technology use– Use district personnel to provide guidance– Use horizontal/vertical team planning to create
engaging, learner centered lessons
