What we do:
ABOUT US
FROM SHAREHOLDER VALUE TO STAKEHOLDER VALUE
The Social License Consortium (SLC) specializes in Corporate Social
Responsibility and Sustainable Development for local communities
in the extractive and energy sectors, covering all stakeholders from
the perspective of engagement and participatory planning,
mobilization and strengthening capacity and local assets, risk
identification and mitigation strategies for the company, as well as
diversification of the local economy. We develop the skills of
professionals, local government, companies, and communities to
achieve a sustainable future.
We have offices in Calgary, Alberta, Canada as well as in Mexico
City, Mexico.
VISION:
SLC will support the creation of wealth for all stakeholders by
catalyzing strong, self-sustaining, financially sound community
based business clusters that lead to a full realization by the
community of the region’s financial, economic and social potential.
MISSION:
SLC works with local communities and industry to develop the
financial and economic foundations for the community to benefit
from the opportunities being created by a forward looking
corporate entity working in their region. This results in the full
realization of: the financial, economic and social potential being
generated by the region’s natural and human resources for the
community, and a broad, consensus based “Social License to
Operate" for the company.

•Extensive Experience in Community Development:
SLC team members have extensive experience working with communities across the globe in areas such as community enterprise development, community engagement, skills development and training.
•Different Approach to Community Development:
Traditionally, capacity building programs have been made
in such a way that the community does not have a voice
or does not understand the project that is being
implemented. SLC takes a different approach to this
problem. SLC does not teach the community what to
do but provides the tools that are necessary to
build businesses. SLC uses the “Minimum Viable
Product” approach where the product or service
is continuously tested in the market and
necessary changes to the product or service is
made instantly to ensure the final product has a
need.
•Long Term Partnership:SLC works as a long term partner and not as a short term consultant. SLC does not just provide advice and consulting but implements businesses and training programs and provides necessary support to get the businesses up and running.
